how to split my sketch?

hi all, I am relatively new to the world of fusion 360 and design programs in general.

I am currently working on an idea for a jig to make table legs with.

is there a way to "split" my sketch into multiple different sketches?

ideally I would like to split the current sketch along the 2 lines into 3 different components to be cut out on a CNC router.

bottom

middle

top

please excuse my lack of skills in designing this aswell.

any help of feedback would be much appreciated.

Your original sketch is not fully constrained and not centered on the origin, this is the first thing you should correct. I did as you asked. In the attached file, there is the original sketch and the three others one you requested. To do this, you edit the original sketch, select all the entities you desire in each new sketch, right click and select Copy. Create a new sketch and then paste. The entities will appear at the exact coordinates as the original unless you choose to move them. Model is attached.

fantastic! it makes sense now i think of it. i think i was trying to do it the hard way, when there is a simple answer.

silly question, how to i now center it back to the origin?

You constrain a sketch to the origin by first, fully constraining and dimensioning the sketch and then using a Coincident constraint to hook a key point, of your choice, to the origin. I would recommend doing all of this BEFORE doing the sketch copy as I illustrated in my previous Screencast. When you copy and paste sketch, unless you move it, it will stay in the same location as the original. The model I used in the Screencast is attached.

something clicked there when you were explaining that. I think the trouble i have been having is that when I make a sketch I don't add enough constraints.
