Joint origin not staying on screen despite holding down the command key

This is the joint origin I'd like to not go away so I can select it:

I should be able to hold down the command key (control on Windows) to keep it displayed so I can select it despite my mouse not being on that top face. As you can see, it disappears when my mouse pointer is no longer over the top face of that part:

Did you hover on the face firstly and then hold down the command key (control on Windows)? From the video, it seems you hold down the command key firstly and then hover on the faces.

I can select that point, but like you it is almost impossible, until I figured it this way,

Turn the body so you are viewing the empty slot, hover over the face, and then with Move Point to Point that point will select, however you didn't say where you wanted to move it.

This point is also document origin, so make sure the Origin is not visible.

As I use history, I don't know it it is a Direct Modelling thing.

Just to clarify, what you are trying to do has nothing to do with a joint origin.

You are trying to get the 3d widget to snap to a snap point.

I have not encountered that problem on my mac. My guess is that this (and some of your other weird UI issues) is due to you using the trackpad.

Here's a recommendation from a professional CAD user that has used Fusion 360 on a mac since 2014. (CAD for 30 years and SolidWorks for over 20). Get a 3-button & scroll wheel mouse. You'd be utterly surprised what difference that makes in productivity!

A mouse might be "better" but certainly in no way shape or form a necessity to.... hover over a point... and... click on it.... No I do not need a mouse to click on a point... The problem isn't me clicking on a point it's having it stay on the screen. If anything it would be my command key that's having issues.... (It's not).

Fusion supports the trackpad. I'm not able to do something that is most definitely supported...

Someone else also had problems making the same selection. It's not just me.

I am not trying to discourage you from reporting problems. I appreciate that you do that!

But you seem to encounter so many hiccups, that you need to ask yourself a key question.

Do you want to get your work done, or report problems.

If you want to get your work done, then get the appropriate hardware and move on.

Then report the problems once you have some time and not when you're "in the middle of something".

Why do I need a mouse? Is there any specific issue you see with the way I use my trackpad in the video I uploaded or is this just a hunch?

Just to be clear, I was not able to get the Move triad to snap to that face snap point, no matter how I tried, and was only able to get that point selected as Point to Point. This did not utilise the triad, of course.

Windows 10, and Mouse.

Yep tried it her on my work computer as well. It completely ignores the ctrl (or cmd on macos) button press.

This used to work and I use it all the time. Looks like quite a nasty bug introduced with the latest update.

No, @TrippyLighting , I don't believe that this is true. This is not a regression. Move has never had this functionality. Only Joint and Joint Origin enable the "CTRL to lock in the face and keep the snap points" functionality.

move-copy-pivot-point-keyboard-modifier-no-longer-works . The enhancement request for this is still open in the Fusion backlog.

I'm not having any trouble snapping to that point. No modifier key required.

Aha. You are correct! I very rarely use snapping when using the move command and mixed that functionality with the functionality for joining components.

When I use the point-to-point tool it works as it should!

@FrodoLoggins is not using the free move in his videos.

The question then is, why would this point-snapping functionality be needed when using a free linear move ?

Free move is "free" and point to point uses "points". The center of that arc is a point. This is why there are move modes, because they each are designed to deliver different modes of functionality.

But the op wants to snap to the quadrant point, with re-orientate triad.

That is not a legitimate operation?

The Move itself can be performed with other snap points. I found that that snap point disappears when the cursor leaves the face and enters the open slot.

Either way something is inconsistent.

@davebYYPCU The free move does not strictly need a point to snap to. It only needs a face to be perpendicular to.
