Thanks @TrippyLighting, it's not ideal but it's a valid workaround. I didn't specify but I was using a derived component so I could remove tools with the combine/cut feature to remove the punch tooling body while keeping derived parameters but I can live with using the boundary fill method since the patterning is more important than the removal of the body.

I appreciate your help here with the workaround. I hope someone from Autodesk sees this and resolves the root issue though...

Hi,

I'm not sure if there's an alternative workflow and this is expected behaviour but I am trying to pattern a body split that was done using a dervied component as the tool, and if the pattern compute option is "Identicle" or "Adjust" the pattern just doesn't occur, it will only occur on "Optimized". The preview of the pattern shows a ghosted version correctly on all three choices. The trouble I have is that I need to pattern the combine/split feature alongside a few other features at the same time so need it to be identicle.

Please see the attached screencast demonstrating a basic version of the issue to reproduce.

https://autode.sk/3JT2v2H

Why would the patterned geomerty not be identical if you use optimized ?

Hi @TrippyLighting, my actual model is a bit more complex than the demonstration but I've screencasted it to show that Fusion's optimization seems to actually remove most of the feature when using the "Optimize" compute option, hence the need for it to be "Identicle".

https://autode.sk/3Pr1S1G

Hi @TrippyLighting, I can't share the original but I've remade it similarly and it reproduces the issue - with the oddity in that the ghost preview in the rectangular pattern shows the entire body rather than the features, but otherwise it's reproducing the same issues.

If you try this with a linked component and use a boundary fill with cut instead of the combine/cut feature it works.

Does it have to be a derived component?

Actually, I just tried the boundary fill/cut with the derived component and then "Identical" works as well.

You can use the "remove" feature to remove the linked component, but my recommendation would be to do this at the end of the timeline.
