Cannot close a patch

I can't select the final curve for a patch. The curve has been drawn from projected points so it should be coincident with curve 1 and curve 5.

Given the fairly abundant presence of warnings in the timeline and clearly under defined sketches in the 3D viewport, I would consider starting from scratch.

In the second post of this thread @jeff_strater has posted links to other instrument building threads. Work through those before continuing, as they contain valuable techniques!

The majority of the errors in the timeline are due to deleted sketches that were no longer useful. In sketches 38 through 49 I have basically started over and redrawn all of the items involved in the neck to heel transition. I am using the patch method as described by Austin Shaner in his tutorial on designing guitars with Fusion 360. It worked quite well for me in my neck to peghead transition. I just can't get the curve of sketch 49 to be coincident with the curves of sketch 38 and sketch 41 even after projecting those points using create, project/include, intersect.

If it were my design, I would start over from scratch - using what was learned from this attempt. I would not have any unresolved issues indicated in the Timeline. I would use the BORN Technique as much as possible and practical. My splines would have very few nodes - usually only a start and an end.

I got it to work. I made surface bodies of the neck section and the curved face of the heel, then split those along the xz plane. I surface lofted the top edges of the corresponding bodies and used the curve from sketch 49 as a rail, then patched all the remaining surfaces and stitched it together.

Deleting stuff in the timeline that causes other features turn yellow is a not recommended technique in working with any parametric CAD software.

The sketches in your design are almost all completely undefined (not properly dimensioned or constrained), and as result your design is very easy to break by accident. I've watched some of Austin Shaner's tutorials because other users have referred to them. I am convinced that you did not pick up those techniques from his videos!

If you are interested in learning how to use CAD software properly then then @TheCADWhisperer and I combine more than 70+ years of professional, advanced engineering level use of CAD software. You'll just have to listen and absorb 😉
