Hi everyone,

We have been experiencing bad performance from fusion 360.

Recently we are working with a model made out of STEP files and has been a real headache.

First we had problems managing and assembling the model, we updated our hardware with +32GB RAM memory, modeling 3D was then solved, but this is still not enough to draw the model in 2D. It is completely impossible to set the first model projection in the 2D sheet, the image blurs and the aplication freezes.

We really do not know what is the problem as the computer never uses more than 40% of its RAM, CPU usage stays around 18% and GPU at barely 2% (has 2GB dedicated). Tried to simplify the model by hidding assemblies with many parts, but still got no result. Even tried to reduce the graphics quality thoriugh Fusion & NVIDIA applications but no result was obtianed.

We have recently tried other softwares such as solid edge and we had no problems drawing and managing around the model.

Does anybody can give some insights in how to work with models with several assemblies?

Find attached a 10 ft container step file and its 2d drawings.

That is what I am trying to do with my real project.

I can modelate the 3D model but Fusion 360 crashes every time i try to put the first view in the 2D sheet and closes.

Is that the "sample" you are asking for? I am not really understanding your request.

Regards

Hi,

From my point of view, there are two problem areas:
1. the creation of drawings of too large a number of assemblies.
Tip: The construction should be organized in assemblies and subassemblies in such a way that when creating drawings, only the ones that are to be displayed are activated.
2. the representation of parts in the drawing ( screencast # 😎

günther

The blackouts happen every now and then.

I believe this is an area where Fusion 360 is not very performant. While I work in a number of CAD systems, I usually don't create manufacturing drawings of large assemblies. As such I don't have anything to compare drawing creation with in terms of performance.

I have an assembly with over 6000 components (concept model for manufacturing automation) that I started before writing this post. It's not done yet and I sit on a fairly quick computer wit AMD 5950X.

Just now I was able to place the initial view and it is not bust to create the actual view on the drawing.

Can you do a component count of your assembly?

Open the text window and type component.count into the command line.

Edit: It took about 5 minutes from the start to creating the 1st view on the drawing.
