I have the hobbyist version of fusion 360. A youtube tutorial I'm watching wants me in the 'Model' drop down of the ribbon drop downs in the upper left. It does not appear as an option. How can I access this option without buying a subscription? Autodesk told me to query my software admin, but I don't know what that means.

The video you are watching is using the old Fusion 360 UI. The Model drop down has been changed to the "Design" drop down. This environment is available in all license types.

It depends on the creator of the videos. Some of my older ones show the older interface also. I direct you to the Autodesk Fusion 360 tutorial page. I would suggest you watch this YouTube video or a similar one to get a feel for the change and then all videos will be useful to you.

Very useful, John. Are there more recent tutorials that utilize this updated presentation of 360?

Once you look at the video on the UI changes, you will be able to watch most an video, or sort through them yourself. The change happened in late 2019, I think, so sort your videos to around that date.
