Can't Create FORM into a Solid Body

Hi guys,

I'm new to the forum. I've searched endlessly for a solution on the forum, Google, Youtube, with no success so I figured I'd make a post.

I need to convert this form into a solid body, but I encounter this error:

Error: Conversion error for: 2
Floating point overflow

I have attached screen shots and the file. I appreciate your help.

The error does give a hint as to where the problem is:

that one big end face is not what I'd expect to see in a Form body - usually you want all the faces to be 4-sided. So, in the screencast below, I used Insert Point to add back in some edges to make that be true. I suspect the side faces also could cause problems, but they don't block conversion. Converted model attached

Wow thank you so much. I don't know why it doesn't give me the error message or red highlights as it did for you. Thank you for the repair, much appreciated.

Quick question, since it is now a body, why can't I sketch on the face of it? Or extrude?

This is the downside of using Form. There are some cases where a plane can result, but in most cases, it will not. That face in your model is not planar. It is probably not off by much, but Fusion still won't recognize it as a plane. If you want to sketch/extrude on that face, you can do something like the attached screencast, using Split Body to force there to be a plane there.

One side question: I see that this is a Direct Model (not parametric/history based). Just curious about why you made that choice. Thanks.

Avoid using triangles and N-Gons (polygons with more than 4 vertices) in your designs.

The occasional 5-sided polygon is fine, but it is best to avoid them.

Model 80% in box view mode.

Most importantly, as a beginner you should NOT be modeling with the timeline turned off!

The above converts fine.
