Adding slider and revolute motion consecutively on one part

Hi everyone,

This is my first question on the forums. It can be very basic. However, I haven't come across it asked before, sorry if it has been asked.

I want to add two movements sequentially on the legs of a 4-legged tripod. The movement consists of 3 different positions and transitions between them. First, the feet are in their secret slots on the main body. Second, the feet protrude from their hidden slots (slider1). Finally, they rotate outward 30 degrees around a ledge that ensures they do not come out of the slots completely. Thus, it performs the function of a tripod.

According to my own logic, I created the joints, movements and timings as if I were doing these operations on different parts, as can be seen from the pictures. However, it seems Fusion doesn't allow motions to be in the same component and that's the only problem. The error I get is: "Warning: Cannot resolve some component positions because there are conflicts with assembly relationships in the design. Inspect existing joints, rigid groups, or tangent relationships." However, I don't think there is a conflict in the system." Any suggestions to get me to do this move would be helpful. Thank you in advance for your time.

For the Forum users to give you any good help, we will need the model. Please attach it. If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section, of a forum post, to attach it.

Upon your response, I am forwarding two different documents in which I applied two different movements I wanted on the legs. I want to be able to do these two movements sequentially in a single document.

The process I used in outlined in the video. I only did it to Leg 3 due to the time involved. I added joint limits to the revolve and slider movements that can be adjusted if desire. I mention the limitation in the video, you cannot have one motion without the other by dragging or animation. A Motion Study could do it but they are hard and usually too fast. Model is attached.

Hi Mr. Hackney,

Sorry for the delay in getting back. Last week was a busy week at my school.

The method you showed in the video (adding a ghost component) works and was quite enough to solve my problem. It's surprising that there is no method to do this with parts available in Fusion. Also, after this method, we cannot add a motion link and make 4 legs move at the same time.

On the motion study, although I cannot manually control the animation by holding and dragging the legs, as I thought at the beginning, I can still observe an animation loop where the 4 legs move automatically as I want as you mentioned.

I don't think I would discover your method on my own. You saved me time with your quick response and it was a successful solution for my level, thank you.

I have a very basic question regarding this topic, can bodies be used in a motion study or only components?

Motion Studies can only be applied to Joints. Since a Body cannot contain a Joint and Components can, only Components Joints can be used.
