topic [Bug] Combine Tool Duplicates Components in Simulation Workspace in Fusion Support Forum

When attempting to combine all the parts in an assembly in the simulation workspace, Fusion will sometimes duplicate all of the assembly.

If I deselect some parts, then some copies will disappear. However, it proves to be extremely difficult to select anything as I cannot hide the duplicates. The results of the bug seem to be random as well, creating 1-8+ copies every time I select the combine tool.

This bug's frequency and outcome seemed to get worse with the complexity of the design.

Does anybody who is aware of this bug know a temporary workaround? I cannot seem to find any way to prevent this. Thanks

Hi @roland3,

I can reproduce the behavior you're describing if I check the 'Keep Tools' option in the Combine dialog (which I believe is unchecked by default).

If this isn't the reason, could you attach or share a model that displays this behavior, and we'll be happy to investigate further.

File > Export... > Autodesk Fusion Archive Files (*.f3d)

File > Share File Link > Move the slider 'Allow item to be downloaded' > Copy / paste the URL link to the design

By the way, your workflow description has me curious about the reason why you're combining bodies in the Simplify workspace, to manually prepare the Simulation Model. If we were limited to simulating only one body at a time, this may be a viable workaround solution.

However, this isn't necessary as Fusion Simulation offers an assembly contact technology which will automatically generate Bonded contacts that transfers the loading from one body to another (i.e. no manually combining of bodies is necessary). It works by measuring the face-face proximities between adjacent bodies (basically finding the mated faces) whose 'gap distance' falls within (or below) the default contact detection tolerance of 0.1mm.

Hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any additional questions, comments or suggestions.

Best regards,
