Why is the ground cutting off my objects when I render? In the render screen on the left it shows it right, I have the objects sitting on the plane in design mode, but when I render the ground is up covering my objects?

So adjusting that does adjust the ground…but do we really have to guess where to put it and hope it eventually gets in the right spot? The main windows preview and then the actual render are completely off. On another file I tried I pulled the ground completely over the object and it still wasn’t high enough to even start to see the ground…

So it’s a guessing game, and a “adjust the ground, hope the render is right, cancel the render, adjust the ground, pray the render is right, cancel the render” until you finally find the ground in the right place? That’s rough.

You do not have to guess, if your design environment model in on the X-Y plane and you set the Ground Plane to 0 in the Render Environment, the rendering will place the model on the ground. Since it takes time to render the image, I did not do it in the video but simply attached the result in an image using the setting mentioned. I am using In-Canvas rendering.

Ground plans and reflection are both ticked. Tested on my MacBook Pro and Mac Studio and it’s the same issue one all computers.

Please attach your model so I can attempt the Render. If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section, of a forum post, to attach it.

So, I have to raise the ground 75mm to have it in the right spot...how can this be fixed?

<video-js data-video-id="6317573137112" data-account="6057940548001" data-player="default" data-embed="default" class="vjs-fluid" controls="" data-application-id="" style="width: 100%; height: 100%;"></video-js>
(view in My Videos)

That doesn’t work. It works for the quick render preview, but not when doing an actually full render.

To get the ground to show I had to ease it 75mm, with a ton of guess work and going back and forth. It’s 2mm off the ground as I like to have a slight gap on renders for these. That’s a personal preference. But at 2mm it should still show shadows and the ground.

Try a full tender and see how it turns out. For me I was unable to get it to render with the ground unless I lifted the ground 75mm up above the objects. Which obviously isn’t how it should be.
