Hello,

We are having an issue with one of our designs. Components under the main assembly keep showing a transparent opacity. When we activate the nested components the transparency goes back to full opacity but when switching back to the top level it goes back to full transparency. We have gone to each one of the nested components and explicitly changed the opacity level to 100% and saved the design but the components keep going back to full transparency. Any help understanding what is happening and how to fix it would be most appreciated, performing this change to have it not stick has been a big time sink.

Best,

-Luciano

Is it possible to attach a few screen captures to show what you are seeing. There are different levels of transparency from wireframe to ghosting.

Opacity is a saved feature. In your pictures you said you change the opacity but then you said you "closed" the file, not saved. You must save your design to preserve an opacity changes. The other thing in your original post, you said it is happening in one assembly. If this is the case then I suspect you just need to save the opacity settings.

Hi @jhackney1972 ,

The issue looks like a bad bug in fusion 360. I have gone to every single level and changed the opacity and explicitly saved the model each time. I also saved the design in my previous reply. The version count increases after each save. Then I close the design but when I open it again I'm back to where I started. It no longer looks like some mistake but rather a core software issue.

Thank you,

-Luciano

Hi @jhackney1972 ,

I'm following up so we can all learn something together. I was able to get support from the fusion 360 team.

This transparency behavior I described was due to a sheet metal sub-component in the assembly that had a body which while it was not visible it was still in the flattened state. Locating the body and re-folding it fixed the problem. Thank you for trying to help.

Best,

-Luciano

If you have an sheet metal work in your model, make sure it is all refolded. You can attach your model and the Forum users can take a look. If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section, of a forum post, to attach it.
