Component positioning is handled differently in Fusion. A component can be moved several different ways: interactive drag, Drive Joint, Animate Model, or Move Component, etc. None of those generate a timeline feature. And, for good reason. If you had a model of a door, and you just wanted to see if you had set up the joints correctly, you would drag the door. You would not want that to add a feature to your timeline. Otherwise, your timeline would be littered with Move Component features. So, instead, whenever any component has been moved, by any action, you enter a "capture pending" state, showing the Capture UI. This position is considered discardable. It is saved when you save the design, but, some operations can wipe out that pending position, and, as you've discovered, the pending position is not included if you Insert the design into another design.

I'm seeing a strange condition that seems like a bug. Screen shots follow. I have a design open and saved in one tab, (fig. 1: 132_60_36_v6). When I open a new design to include it, when I insert that same version into the new design, it appears with one of the Move steps in the timeline missing. It's not the last move, but the 3rd from last.

Fig 1: Source of 132_6-_36_v6

Then, after inserting that design into a new design, the 3rd from last transform is missing. I don't see any error message that would account for this. Is this an issue importing the full timeline of some designs?

Fig 2: New design after insertion of 132_60_36v6

your screen capture does not show all the way to the right hand side, but my guess is that you have uncaptured component positions in your design. Can you share that design here?

It does seem to be related to that. I just directly pulled down and selected capture position, and that correctly updated the insertion. I'm a little confused though about why and when an explicit request to update the position is needed after the transform dialog is closed. I have several other inserts that worked, and they all have at least one update position command in the timeline. I now see that the position option only appears after transforms. I'm not quite sure why the update of the position doesn't implicitly get added to the timeline after a transform, but I gather that it needs to be applied whenever the option appears. Thanks.
