Coil Issues

This may be in the wrong area but I have a number of issue with the new coil command.

I don't know when or why the command was changed but it is very difficult to use now and also keeps causing Fusion to freeze. I have also had issues with the coil command feature not showing in the timeline so the only way to delete it is to exit and recover a previous version of the design.

This part is not a bug report but:

I need to create a simple lid which will set down over tabs and rotate 90 degrees to lock. This was simple using coil before but I cannot get it to work for this now.

Do you have a picture or model you can post to show what you are after. I am not sure but the Coil command is the same as it has always been.

It is hard to get a screen shot that makes sense but here is what I am designing the top for. It will need to set down on the ball that is sticking out of each side and will rotate 90 degrees to lock into place.

This was very easy in the past. In Inventor I used the helix command and then in Fusion it was named Coil but worked the same: select a shape then select an axis and set the pitch or height and revolutions.

I have not used this command for a few months but today when I try it wants me to select a surface and a point and it creates the coil itself. This is cumbersome but I was bale to get it to do one side but cannot get it to reverse direction to do the other side.

I think you are looking for the Rotation option in the Coil command. In the animation below I showed this option.

I left the second coil set to new body so it is easier to see but the issue is that the two helical cuts need to be 180 degrees off from each other. Without using a sketch and axis I cannot figure out how to make that happen. Also: I used the rotation direction button in the above example but the two coils have to go the same direction much like like threads.

I wish you had attached your model but here is a video showing how to rotate a coil to a new beginning location. You would apply this to one of your coils. By the way, the Coil command, in Fusion 360 has always been created by selecting a plane and a point.

Using move made sense but does not work for a cut, it only works for a new body coil.

I know in the past I used a command that allowed me to select sketch geometry, an axis, and a height and it would spiral the geometry around the axis to spec. Is it called something other than coil?

You can use a Coil as a cutting tool when placed or later on as a Body to cut using the Combine command. The video shows the later. If this is not what you need, you should attach your model with a good description of what you need.
