Problem with navigation trackpad

Hi i'm used to work with my mac on fusion navigating with the trackpad, but recently the navigation system doesn't function properly, the only command allowed is the zoom with the action i used to pan. I checked the preferences and nothing changed, and even if i restarted many times the program the problem persists. Any suggestions?

This is a very common problem after the most recent update, however there does appear to be a fix that is working for most people, see the reply from @Phil.E HERE.

Very frustrating that normal operation requires a preview feature, but it works at least!

Thank u for ur reply! I’ve actually solved the problem tourning on the native trackpad options on in the preferences and now it works!

I'm not sure what happened this release, but it's clear that not all mac trackpad users are affected. It is very clear that native trackpad solves the issue. The intent of the preview is to get a lot of users to try it before it's the default. We have been slow to graduate this one out of preview, admittedly, but that is the intention for the future.

thanks for this hint, solved the problemn for me as well. However, it created another one: before cmd+scrolling did the zooming-job with the native trackpad-support enabled this doesnt work anymore. Sure enough, poinch-to-zoom works, however the usual workflow is different now.

Does anyone have an idea how to get the old zoom-behaviour back?

ok, i take that back, now - out of a sudden - it works again with the zoom behaviour. Happy that it works, not happy that it solved itself 🙂

I've enabled the native trackpad preview and I'm still having the issue. version 2.0.15775 x86_64 (Rosetta 2)

macOS 13.2.1 (22D68) on Macmini9,1

Not sure if this helps any but even my Magic Mouse has the same behavior: Zoom only no matter which direction I gesture.

I am having the same issue as you, although I am using Mac OS 12.6.3 on a MacBook Air7,2 with Fusion

2.0.15775 x86_64 [Native].

Thanks for the response Phil.

I have followed the instructions provided. I saw no change in behavior with the app (Native Trackpad on or off).

It didn't prompt me for a restart at any step. Is there something potentially wrong with my installation at this point?

The steps listed in that article include some that are no longer needed. I've asked for them to be removed.

This is all that is required.

Open Preferences.
Navigate to the Preview Features tab.
Enable Native Trackpad.
Click OK in Preferences to commit the change.

If this doesn't work, please let me know what sort of hardware you are using.

Macbook trackpad
Magic trackpad
How old is the device?
What macOS version are you on?

I'm asking questions because we need to figure out why almost everyone can use Native Trackpad, but not you. I'm starting by asking about your hardware/OS.

Followed instructions. Same result. No orbit or pan.

I'm using the following hardware:
Mac Mini M1 (model Z12P000KDLL/A) running Ventura 13.2.1
Apple Magic Trackpad 2 (Force + Multi-Touch) Model A1535 FW connected via USB purchased maybe 5 years ago.
Apple Magic Mouse 2 Model A1657 Connected via Bluetooth purchased approx 3 years ago.

Steps 1-4 haven't worked for me. Here are my hardware specs:

MacBook Air 13-inch, 2017

Integrated Multi-Touch trackpad

macOS Monterey 12.6.5

Hi. I have the same machine. Thanks for bringing this up, because with some testing I can reproduce the effect. Restarting Fusion makes the problem go away. This is with native trackpad [on].

Ensure you are running the latest build. 2.0.15775. This is found in the help > About box.

Set the preview feature Native Trackpad to be on. Ok the dialog box.
Test the trackpad. If it doesn't work, restart Fusion by closing it with the red x, then restarting the app.

@cyph3r42 I also happen to have a machine setup nearly identical to yours. It's after hours for me now, so this will be the first thing I check in the morning. I bet the steps above are repeatable on any mac.

My laptop is at the school where I teach, so I will try that first thing tomorrow. I do have the version installed that you recommended, but I had previously closed Fusion using Command Q. I'll see if closing the window via the red button works!

I’m also away from my desk at the moment but will definitely give that a try. I nearly always use Command-Q. I’ll give the red X a shot and report back!

I tried closing the Fusion 360 window using the red x button, but I see the same behavior as if I use command Q. I tried turning off Native Trackpad, then closing and re-enabling and closing, but I only get a zoom operation when I use a two finger swipe with or without the Shift key. In System Preferences, I have Scroll Direction: Natural selected, as well as Zoom in or Out and Rotate selected.

I tried unchecking the native trackpad feature and closing out with the red X and then re-checking the preview feature and closing again. Problem persists.

Before I completely quit for the night I initiated a restart of the OS. I’ll be checking here in about an hour.

I'm back working. After rebooting I noticed that "Gesture based view navigation" was somehow toggled off. So that on + Native Trackpad and I'm back to whole again. @jlawlisPY7T9 - I'd double check that the toggle for Gesture based Nav is set on the General page if it's still not working.
