Some mac users have recently found their trackpad navigation has been impacted. These instructions are the current best solution while we're working on fixing it.

First ensure in Preferences that "use gesture based view navigation" is enabled.

Next:
1. In preferences, under Preview Features, turn on Native trackpad, and close preferences.
2. Try trackpad.
3. If it doesn't work, close Fusion (red x or command + Q)
6. Restart Fusion

Please reply here if this fix doesn't work for you.

Since the forced spate on April 11th, 2023 update by selecting Native Trackpad it only allows orbit and pan

But zoom doesn't work.

Disabling Native trackpad allows zoom but not orbit / pan

Since April 11th there have been 3 subsequent forced updates, none of which have fixed the issue.

Fusion repair utility, re-install, nothing works.

In Japan, Hong Kong and Korea for 2 months at CNC facilities.

It really sucks to lose the ability to lose CAM on my laptop all of the sudden when I need it most.

It's been weeks since this stopped working, is there any ETA on when mac laptops can use Fusion again?

Trackpad navigation support has been actually getting worse. Last update orbit was broken but at least panning worked, and zooming too iirc. We don't know what has been changed in the last few updates, but it's probably way more important than navigation.

Autodesk's "Native trackpad" support is missing inertial panning, which is key to working with a trackpad. We need this "glide" effect to move quickly across the screen/3D plane, pravdomil's NativeTrackpad plugin used to do the trick and did it well, but he stopped supporting it a while back and the April 2023 update broke the plugin.

Are you guys working on adding inertial panning support?

The NativeTrackpad Add in was perfect, now Fusion killed it and replaced it with a way worse version.

Fusion team, you need to bring the inertia, otherwise the "native trackpad" is borderline useless because one scrolls and scrolls and scrolls without an end.

I would also like an update, Fusion isn't really usable on a MacBook's trackpad without inertial panning. The current trackpad implementation is very impractical. This has been the source of a lot of frustration.

How can we get a functional product?

I definitely find the new trackpad system disappointing. I told them about the Magic Mouse issue months ago. I and many others complained about the slow-panning issue, asking for the smooth glide feature from the old Native Trackpad plugin to be implemented.

I have to assume that most Fusion360 users on macOS plug in a clunky scroll-wheel mouse, and that the developers assume this means that nobody *wants* trackpad support, rather that people are avoiding a broken interface.

So, here we are with worse trackpad support than we had 2 years ago. I have to constantly zoom in and out just to move around the design space. And I often have to press F6 to reset the zoom scaling so that panning works at all.

If people want better trackpad support, I urge them to speak up!

I have the solution 🙂 buy a older imac and all works fine., can't be updated to the new software so your magic mouse and trackpad will work as we love. switching to my old imac and say goodbye to my beautiful Mac mini M2... sad to have to do this to be able to work but i can say Autodesk is not getting my money this year.

As mentioned earlier from another user to check on add-ins, I don't have any extensions currently in use.

Neither is "Native Trackpad" enabled in the preferences.

Ok, I just tried to enable "NATIVE TRACKPAD" Preview Feature.

It works now with Shift + Trackpad Pan, Zomm, Tilt ... All fine.
I'll keep that feature enabled now
