I have drawn a engine connecting rod and am trying to print it. When I set up the print page the rod is rotated 180 degrees and no mater what I do I can not get the rod to be aligned the way it is on my drawing. It seems like the print process is not using my drawing to generate the print drawing? Thank you.

Regards,

Bill Kaltenekker

billkalt1027@gmail.com

Can you get some screen captures of your design and the print dialog. EDIT don't attach pictures, just paste into your message.

Have you tried changing the orientation?

Thank you but that does not help. Maybe I did not explain correctly. I made a drawing of an engine rod. Orientation is vertical, piston pin end on top, crank end on the bottom. The file is saved. I try to make a print drawing, open a new sketch And try to add the rod to the new drawing. It comes in ok but is rotated 180 degrees. What am I doing wrong?

Another thing, following the presenter's example for starting a sketch he adds a center rectangle to the drawing. The rectangle has dimensions on it that can be changed. In his presentation when he puts in a dimension highlighted in blue, fusion 360 automatically highlights the other dimension in blue so it can be changed. When I do that the other dimension is not changeable. What am I doing wrong here?

Any help is very much appreciated.

Thank you.

Thank you for the reply. Obviously I am new to Fusion 360 and trying to learn by watching training videos, but I am a semi retired professional engineer with some 50 years in the industry. I was looking at a training video where the presenter starts a sketch by placing a center rectangle. When the rectangle appears there are two dimensions shown, one is highlighted in blue and can be changed. When he changes the dimension it locks that dimension in and highlights the other dimension in blue and that can be changed also. When I try to repeat that on my computer things work right up to the time that I change the first dimension. My computer then does not highlight the second dimension and there is no way to lock it in. If I click OK and finish the drawing and then start sketching again and try to change the dimension I could not change before it tells me that the drawing is over-constrained and there is no way out of that. Surely I am doing something wrong, but what?

Thank you.

You've gone off to another question now and it makes it harder to help, you should have started a new thread for the rectangle question.

You need to be careful with your terminology. You talk about a drawing but I think you're actually talking about a design, a drawing is a 2d sheet like I show in my previous reply. Are you trying to insert one design into another design?

If you are actually talking about making a 2d drawing and the orientation is wrong you can reorient after placing the base view.

Jus place the base view, then use rotate to rotate the view 180°.
