Since a recent update (not sure exactly which) I'm having trouble when placing a dimension on sketch entities. Once I've selected entities to dimension, the selection tool continues to want to pick up on object geometry from bodies in the background, rather than allowing me to place my two-entity dimension with the usual freedom.

If I bring the pointer outside the view of the body in the background then there is nothing to select, so the dimension is fine but this often changes the orientation away from what I need.

The faces in the background body also flash as I draw the pointer over them which I find really distracting.

To my knowledge this is a recent bug (at least, I don't think it was intentional?).

Attached video shows a quick demo of what I'm seeing. This particular dimension wasn't a major issue, but with others it can become really awkward to actually place the dimension they way I need to.

Sure there are workarounds but it just seems unintended, or maybe the updates have highlighted an issue with my selection settings?

There is no new behavior here. This has always been the case. I agree it is annoying, but it is not new.

You see the problem as soon as the dimension's created and also here where the dimension's left behind.

@badonj001 - this post has been edited due to Community Rules & Etiquette violation.

That started about 50-updates and 2-months ago. Every time they "fix" something, something else seems to break. Many times it is the same issues/bugs over and over and over again. It has been getting worse since the pay us harassment started. It got worse at that point. Think about it. On or around January first of 2023 sound right? The same time the person use license changed. And around the same time solidworks released their paid personal account. There are no coincidences.

Don't worry, it is the users fault. Just like I am having issues getting login text codes.

My issue is similar to yours - I came to the forum to report that I am having a dimensioning issue after the last update, or one of the recent updates.

In a sketch on an existing body/face, when I create a dimension and select both points, I cannot properly place the dimension. The body I am sketching on rapidly flashes and the dimension itself disappears. If I click multiple times to place the dimension, it will eventually place. Or, if I move the cursor (unplaced dimension) off the body, the dimension appears normally. If I hide the body then the dimension tool works fine.

There is clearly a bug. I am running Mac Ventura 13.3.1 (a).

I'm definitely in agreement that this is relatively new and a bug. I work on house/room sized projects and never remember having to zoom out so far from a small feature within a sketch to avoid a body (like the floor) when placing a dimension. For now I'm constantly hiding large components as a work around, but it is annoying and should be fixed in my opinion.
