Unable to create a drawing

Hi, am having an issue where I cannot create a drawing at all.

When trying to create a drawing the Drawing screen appears but is unresponsive.

It stays for a few seconds then disappears and puts me back to the Design screen.

I use the Personal edition of Fusion 360. Troubleshooting attempts so far include:

1. Repairing Fusion using its service utility.

2. Installing the latest version of graphics drivers (only 1 week ago release date)

In the past I have also tried uninstalling/reinstalling Fusion but to no avail.

How to fix this?

I'm sorry to hear that you are having trouble. Can you check that you are running the latest version of Fusion.

Please share a DXDIAG with me so that I can see what your system setup looks like.

Thanks for reaching out.

I continued searching the forums and finally found a post which indicated that the issue was being caused by having 2 GPUs and Fusion always using the wrong one. It specified which .exe to set to use the 2nd GPU instead and that resolved the issue.

I too am a personal user and having an issue creating a drawing. I read the solution of choosing the 2nd GPU, but I haven't found how to do that.

I do not have a dual processor. It is an Intel

My system is:

Computer is a Dell Optiplex 7020 MT
OS is Windows 10-64 bit
Monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster 1200NF

The issue I had was that my PC has 2 GPUs and Fusion was always choosing the wrong one.

You indicated you had the same issue but now are saying you don't have 2 CPUs which is a totally different issue.

You might need to contact tech support.

After the previous reply, without doing anything else, I tried creating a drawing and it worked, but I had a prompt that I had updates that were pending. I did the updates and then tried creating a drawing again and it failed again as before. Nothing works (can't collapse the model tree [?], expand the sheet items, etc.) The only way to get out is to close Fusion 360.

I saw there was an update so I downloaded it. Nothing has changed, I still cannot create a drawing. It looks like it thinks I have to have a paid subscription which is different than it has been in the past. Has there been a change in policy?

Hi @rtaylorNKPDB

The problem that you are experiencing is due to a graphics issue. It looks like you don't have an onboard graphics card (Intel HD Graphics 4600), rather than a dedicated graphics card. Without the requisite graphics hardware in place, the drawings workspace will not fire up.

My suggestion is to take a look at Intel's website directly, to see if they have a newer graphics driver, and to give that a try. You may be in a situation where your system specs do not meet the requirements to run Fusion.

Thanks for your reply. I checked for the latest driver for the 4600 through Intel.com and find I have the latest driver. I'll contact my IT/System expert and find a Graphics Card that might be suitable. Thanks for your support.

Just an update. I was in the process of tracking down a graphics card on a retired budget. Today I decided to check the program again and surprise, it worked just fine and was able to create a drawing and save it. I did see there's an update to Fusion 360, but I'll try that later. I'm just glad to see again that this onboard graphics can work just fine. Not an onboard graphics issue.
