Hi Phil, thanks for responding.

I'm probably not looking in the right place, but it doesn't seem to identify which part the error is in.

Through trial and error over the course of about 4 hours I figured out which one it was, there were a few components in the porthole assembly, for which I had created face sketches so that I could export .DXF files for laser cutting.

I had forgotten to hide these sketches, doing so got rid of the error.

If there is a quick way to find out what part or assembly is causing the error, I would be very keen to learn about it as I would really like to speed up the process.

Thanks again

Rob

I have lots of components and assemblies that are common across a number of projects and as I work with them I make small updates to them to make them better / more accurate.

Subsequently, when I come back to a project after a while, there are lots of changes that need to be updated, however, when I click the update child components button in the top bar it fails with this message:

Error: Cannot Update components
The operation failed because it results in some unresolved components. Please open following designs and fix the unresolved components:

If I try to update just one of the components I get the same error.

This issue is common across a large number of my assemblies, all of the assemblies that this is happening to are greater than 71MB and so it wont let me attach.

I could really do with a solution as some of these assemblies contain thousands of components which would make it seriously time consuming to rebuild.

Thanks.

I can see why this is a bit confusing, because it looks like the dialog was intended to list all the designs that need to be resolved before updating. But it does not. I'm going to log an improvement ticket asking for the dialog to be improved with better information.

In this particular case, you can look at just the inserted components that are out of date, which it sounds like you did.

When you open them, they should provide icons that show components are unresolved. Help article.

Does the help article help deal with unresolved components within the out of date xrefs (as marked in the image above?)

Hi Phil, thank you so much. No word of a lie, I think this is possibly the most helpful thing I have read on this forum.

I manually checked every part, but this looks like it will save hours of my time
