Can you share the design as it's hard to help without seeing what you're doing.

As for the difference with press pull. Under automatic there are 2 options, modify existing feature or New Offset. I'd guess if you leave the option as automatic it is modifying the existing feature so it's not stored in the timeline.

Are you using manufacture models in the manufacture workspace and are you updating them after the move or offset?

Hello,

I'm trying to move a face in the design tab & it will not update the tool path in the manufacturing side. The methods used are the move command w. a single face selected, & the offset command. Both show up in the design history, yet after regenerating the setup in manufacturing, its clear the material has not been removed from the simulation model & in real life.

What does work is using a Press/Pull command, but when so the Press/Pull does not show up in design history?

Any one else experiencing this or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,

Sam E.

Greetings Mark,

I see what you mean about the leave as automatic. Selecting create a new offset seems to store it in the time line, but doing so will create the same effect as move & offset w/ out carrying over into the manufacturing.

Below is a quick video showing what I'm seeing. Notice how even after regenerating the finish passes, the stock remains oversize. Even the selection stays & doesn't update.

Are you using manufacture models? Can't see from the video, can only see setups. If you edit the op, what's selected? Is it an edge or a sketch?

You might need to share the design with @seth.madore as I don't see these problems on my designs.

Mark,

See image below for answers. Not sure what you mean by using manufacturing models?

When editing the op, you can see the selected edges are right off the finish models.

If I use the press/pull command w/ modify existing feature, everything works & the tool path updates to follow modified body. But not when using the others. I can share the file as needed.

The only idea I have is you have sketch lines selected rather than edges of the bodies. Modify existing features will edit\update the sketch where as create new offset will be added after the sketch, so the sketch will be out of date.

Mark,

That is exactly what I have. I've been resorting sketched lines collinear w. the profile I need, as they give me the best tool path. Thank you for pointing this out.

Seth,

This solves my issue.
