Moving Bodies into Components does NOT work anymore - why?!

Hi everyone,

for the past years of 3D printing in multiple colors I created components and dropped the bodies into them, but now, this does NOT work anymore.

Like here:

The main component-Group is KeyTag containing:

1. A Component called Base - containing the Base Body

2. A Component-Group called TOP - Containing 2 Components for the Frame and Text which contain the corresponding bodies.

I can still create components, but no longer am I able to drop bodies into them - nor can I drop anything into a component. Not even another component. What has happened here?

Another example:

1 Body: Round surface with 0.4mm negative lettering.

2 Body-group: 0.4 letters (which are positioned in the negative space of that body to make it even)

Normal procedure would have been to create 3 Components:

1 component called Project. - into which I would drop two other components = Body and Letters.

Then when exporting the component Project for 3D-printing my software (PrusaSlicer) would detect the different components and enable me to configure a print-order and or colors.

What has happened? Why does this not work anymore??

When you want to add a separate Body into a component, normally you drag the sketch, for that body, into the component. The sketch and body will be added to the component. This has limitations especially if the body or component have been involved in later timeline operations.

Found the flaw!!

When having deactivated moves, extrusions, sketches or whatever in the timeline , the function of moving bodies or components into other components does not work. Just deleted the greyed-out section and now everything works like always. Jesus!!! Lost 3 hours for nothing due to this grrrr......

Regarding your approach, it does not work for me, as when dropping the sketches instead of the bodies into the created components like lets say: Base, Frame, Text (even though it forces me to change my entire workflow as I then have to create a new sketch for every body I might want to print separately) when sending the file to my printer, I can only select "one" component.

Usually I would drop the 3 above mentioned components into another one called (for example "Keytag") and then select that component (which contains all files - but separate) to my printer / slicer.

Well... now it works... pfffff..... what a relief....

But thank you anyways for passing by and coming up with an idea (that could have helped in a different scenario)
