Thanks for the reply, for info there are other ISO fasteners with large chamfers, including ISO 4014, 4016, 4017 and 7380-1. Countersunk screws to ISO 14581 have no chamfer at all.

So far, almost every ISO fastener I've looked at has issues, I'd politely request that the whole library is checked.

I had a quick play with the fastener library and found a problem with socket head cap screws to ISO 4762.

The two on the right are the ones in question, and have massive chamfers for some reason. They're M8 and M10 by the way. I had a look at various other fasteners and they seem OK. Can this be fixed?

Also, a question - Why are fasteners modelled at major thread diameter instead of nominal diameter? I understand that "technically" you could argue it's more accurate, but it makes working with an assembly model more difficult, especially if you quickly use the measure command to check a size. I'd expect an M8 bolt to measure 8mm, but instead it measures 7.866mm.

It's worse as we occasionally mix and match metric and imperial (for legacy reasons). If I measure a 3/4" thread I'd expect it to by 19.05mm. Now it's 18.893mm and I have no idea what it is.

Yes, I understand that I should really be checking the part/browser/whatever but sometimes a quick measurement is all that is needed, I understand the reason for bolts being technically accurate, but can we have an option to model at nominal size?

Hi Rory M,

thank you for your feedback.

The issue with big chamfer at the end of screw for ISO 4762 has been logged in our tracking system and could be fixed in future updates.

WRT: Also, a question - Why are fasteners modelled at major thread diameter instead of nominal diameter?

In Fasteners Library we use Fusion Thread Feature - and data there are acc. to standards for threads.

As workaround in the case that you have to see nominal diameter on cylindrical face, you can suppress the Feature Thread feature.

Best regards

Roman

Yes, we will do review of geometry for all of these fasteners.
Thank you
Roman
