Hello
I am trying to utilize Fusion 360 from my home PC. The download wizard does not seem to give me the option to choose the install location and is taking up space on my C partition which i have set up to contain exclusively the OS on my PC. I have a file location in my D partition where I would like to install all Autodesk related software but Fusion 360 does not allow me to choose to install there. How do I force this change. This is a Storage space related issue so redirect is not an option.

Customer support told me to post this here.

Is there an alternative program in the suite that does not force this? I do not necessarily need fusion 360 if there is an option that does not force it's install to the C partition that covers similar functionality.

Since Fusion 360 is cloud based and uses an internet streamer for installation, Autodesk had to chose a installation location universal to all. They chose the C-Drive partition plus the current profile. Since the application is also cloud update from time to time, the updates are written to find the "universal" installation location. Therefore the installation drive partition cannot be changed by the user. I have heard of some individual installing on a Virtual Machine which is on another partition but I have never tried this.

Is fusion 360 just the webapp version of autocad and the issues i'm experiencing can be alleviated by installing and running this software instead?

I would say NO. Fusion 360 is a totally different application from AutoCAD.

There may be an alternative for you if you do not want to install the Fusion 360 application. Depending on your Fusion 360 license type, there is a Web Version that is pretty close to the same functionality. You can read about it here.

So the only option is to rebuild my partition so that C is a mass storage partition instead of the clean OS partition I had it as. Or use the online browser based version of fusion 360. There is no way to use the partitions I have made for program installs and there is no version of fusion 360 that is able to be locally installed despite requests dating back to 2015 on these forums.

You are correct in your statements, at least about the installation partition. Rebuilding your computer is your decision. By the way, I hope you read that the web version requires a Subscription License to use it. It is also not quite as clean in functionality but is reasonable. I have tried it but I find is to cumbersome for production work.
