Struggling assembelies and workflow advice needed

Hi fusion experts, I'm writing this message requesting your help.

I have been playing around with Fusion 360 for a couple of years now (aroudnd 4-5) and mainly use it for designing 3D printers as a hobby while I complete my university studies. My main issue is with assemblies, and I'm wondering whether what I'm experiencing is widespread or just an error on my side.

The issues I am experiencing include, but are not limited to:

Assembly contexts will just lose their geometry after a sync.
External components lose their link to my main assembly after a sync or save.
Fusion 360 refuses to update my external components and their assembly contexts.

For context, I know Fusion introduced some new forms of assembly contexts recently, but I went into my settings and reverted it to the old mode, where you have Context 1, 2, 3...

My modelling approach is the following:

Create a hybrid design that contains my frame.
Import that into an assembly.
Create a new hybrid design that references the frame for parts like the Z-axis.
Create more hybrid designs that reference the Z-axis, the frame, and other hybrid designs inside my main assembly.
Repeat.

This sometimes leaves me with parts that reference parts that also reference other parts (maybe this is the issue, but I'm not sure how I can avoid this).

Additionally, I believe my assemblies are not overly complex or detailed, as I often refer to external parts I import, such as bearings. I additionally often add fasteners to my design using the in-built Fusion tool. The in-built AI reported that my design has 323 components and 817 instances, and it's not even close to being done, so I would expect this number to double or triple by the end, as there is still a lot of work to do.

I know this is a long message, but my goal here is to see if anyone out there can help me, as this is becoming extremely frustrating.

Has anyone experienced similar issues? If so, how did you solve them?
What recommendations would you suggest to fix my issues?
Are there any changes you would recommend to my modelling approach to mitigate these issues, or to improve as a CAD designer in general? I would love to hear suggestions on how to improve.
Should I maybe look into other platforms, like Inventor or SolidWorks, for this type of work?

Are you expecting to modify / edit an external component, with Edit in Place, and that is not working?

I am not sure I understand - sync. Do you mean Get Latest?

Sounds like the concept of make individual files for import to a bigger Assembly file, is not what you have done.

Please attach your model(s) so the Forum can relate them to your statement. It is pretty hard to get a handle on your problem without them. If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section, of a forum post, to attach it. If needed, ZIP a F3Z file.

Are you expecting to modify/edit an external component with Edit in Place, and that is not working?

Yes, sometimes the component will not sync, in the sense that I will edit them inside their assembly, but the changes won't be updated inside my main assembly. Or the assembly contexts created in these sub-assemblies will just disappear. Sometimes the entire sub-assembly will just become broken.

I am not sure I understand — sync. Do you mean Get Latest?

Where is this "Get Latest" option? The only option I have is "Update External References."

Can you access my assembly through this Fusion link? Fusion 360 seems to be struggling to export the multiple components as an F3Z file.
