Bugs in sketch constraints

The last months there have been a lot of bugs with constraints. Fully constraint lines shown in blue, black lines that can be moved with the mouse, the "over constrained" dialog on constraints that should be no problem. Here is an example of a fully free standing line, that won't take an angle.

It would be nice if somebody could look into this, because it's getting worse and worse and taking way to much time. You know, if you have to draw the sketch from start with every time, and re-map all operations based on that sketch, things take time...

Could you please attach your model?

If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model, follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section, of a forum post, to attach it.

..This is a frustration post..!

I have already developed severe headaches uppon trying to skectch simple lines..

paradise is lost for me.. i am certainly going to hell for my language when using this f360 terrible programm..

i'm thinking that autodesk people are using us as beta guinea pigs for the development of a complex faulty system,

we are seriously thinking at my company of jumping off this leaking boat,, it just is to much time expensive..

Why don't you post a sample file.

File > export > save as f3d on local drive > attach to post.

But, yeah, you are on to something. These bugs are dependent of other things in the model, which they of course should not be. It seems that Fusion has serious data model problems. Other examples: the model tree suddenly contains newer items that the current position on the timeline.

Latest news from Sketch with the last update of Fusion: now purple lines (linked) can be dragged around in some instances.

With these quite serious data integrity problems, more and more serious bugs will be made in the future... Remember this prediction.

Any issues that should preventing constraining a freestanding line? Check all the three screenshots. It's only the one freestanding line that is in the question.

The sketch is not correct because I have tried "everything" to get it to work, but ended up drawing it over, doing the same and getting it fully constrained again.

Hi,

Sorry to hear of these frustrations. Unfortunately nobody has provided any data I can use to log bug reports.

If you have the following:

A sketch with black lines that can be dragged
A sketch with blue lines that cannot be dragged
A sketch with lines that cannot be dimensioned
Any other problem that is specific to the geometry you are creating

Please post a copy of the design or sketch.
Describe what you are trying to do.
Describe what doesn't work, and what you expect.
Provide images or videos.

With these things I can easily log and lobby for sketch fixes.

Without these things, I have limited time to read long winding posts and guess what sort of geometry you might be working with, even with images.

@TheCADWhisperer All you posted was an unconstrained sketch. I would expect it to be blue and drag around. Please be more specific.

Take a step back and think about it - that is what I would tell my students.

Maybe get someone else involved - I would actually encourage my students to work together.

Hint: Return to the original problem description.

Carefully examine the image in Message 11. What do you observe?

I will make a video later today if the issue does not suddenly become obvious.

There are several very smart Fusion experts here.

Anyone else able to observe any issues?

Perhaps the most powerful function of internet forums like this is the collaborative environment it provides for users to see things that they might not otherwise see when a large number of people with skill levels ranging from novice to expert examine a problem. I have to constantly remind myself to revisit the beginner level of understanding.

I've had cases where I taught the same lecture for 10 yrs until one day a student says, "Why can't you just..." and points out something that I never saw and apparently no other students saw in the 10 previous years.

My immediate reaction whenever I see a sketch that is underconstrained is to attempt to determine what constraints are needed to fully define the sketch.
