Thanks.

Do you know what the expected behavior is for what is shown in the above videos? More like the first video where the plane goes the center of the cylinder every time or like the second video where it's a random amount every time?

When creating a section analysis/offset plane, dragging the blue arrow, then selecting a cylindrical object, what is the expected behavior?

Usually the section/plane gets moved to the exact center of the cylinder's axis like so:

And that seems to totally make sense. Of course that's where the section view would go.

But other times (and extremely often) it's completely random like so:

I'm doing the same exact thing but the section analysis keeps moving a different amount:

I only use techniques that always return expected behavior in any of the CAD programs that I use.

Yes and with other CAD programs those techniques are just the tools that shipped with the program. Not workarounds. Not sure why you're so content to waste your time. With any other CAD program you'd just... use the program how it was intended to get expected behavior. No workarounds needed. Or workarounds that need workarounds. Or workarounds^3/4/5.

I have to admit - I didn't look at the videos.

So then why are you here? You didn't even answer my question. What are you doing here? A multiple industry standard fortune 500 company with 50 billion in market cap. I hope you're getting paid.

The planes move to the center 50% of the time. That's clearly the expected behavior. Unless Autodesk's looking to get into the state lottery game I don't think the expected behavior is completely random half the time.
