topic The 'Configuration Table' feature - Personal Plan? in Fusion Support Forum

I need to check something, which I hope Autodesk can answer.

I have been a Personal user for the longest time. I use it to support my 3D printing hobby. It's a great product, and I thouroughly enjoy using it.

After upgrading F360 today, which I do regularly, I have noticed that the Configure tool is now greyed out.

Being on a personal plan, I have used any feature that was available, and any feature that wasn't available I just assumed was a subscription feature.

I have used the Configure feature frequently on many designs. The example screenshot below for my personal Kumiko project has some 80 configurations in it. And today after the upgrade, this is now unavailable. I can't remember a time when this wasn't unavailable.

Can Autodesk please explain what's going on. Why a feature that was available no longer is?

Thank you.

I just opened F360 on another of my machines, which hadn't been updated, and it too is now showing Configure as being inaccessible.

I'm deeply concerned that many of my designs are now 'lost', and will need to somehow be recreated.

Configurations was not available for personal plans for authoring right from the beginning. But you can still use existing configurations in a Configured Design, change values, etc., but cannot add new configurations.

None of your Configured Designs are 'lost'. You can still access them, use them and make edits to the configurations.

Did you author these configurations yourself? If you have been on personal subscription for a long time, i cannot explain how you could author them. When were these configurations created?

Hi Gautham.

As far as I'm aware I have always been on a Personal plan. I work in the AEC industry, not MFG, so I have no need for a commercial license.

When I have had to occassionally reinstall F360, I've always had to go through the Personal path for the install download file.

I've been able to create and edit Configs for as long as I can remember, at least 1-2 years. As a hobbyist, I'm self taught, and when I eventually found and understood Configs it levelled up my design capabilities I haven't looked back. I'm not a power user, and so I don't need to explore what limitations personal offered.

It was only this week that this functionality disappeared.

So when you say I can make edits to the configurations of existing designs, how do I do this?

Fair enough if I can't create anymore configs, but I at least need to be able to open the Config Table so I can see the values should I need to recreate them without configs.

Hi @Chad-Smith

We suspect there was a window of time when Fusion allowed you to create new configurations, perhaps you were using a 30 day trial version of Fusion. When that trial expired you should have lost access to creating new configurations. Perhaps that didnt happen. Not sure. But anyway, it is true that Configurations has always been for customers from non-personal entitlements. If you can send us the email address you use to log into Fusion, we can look up your history and perhaps that will shed some light.

With the way the configuration commands are for you, you should still be able to edit configured parameters through the Parameter table or open the Configurations table and make changes to configured aspects there. That should update the design correctly. Let me know if you are not able to do this.

Regards

I cannot open the Configuration Table as this also appears to be locked as indicated by the blue up arrows.

As I said in my previous post, if I can at least view the Config Table, then I stand a chance of recreating the part without configs.

@Chad-Smith

You seem to have exposed a couple of deficiencies in the product that should not exist. First of all users who start a Trial version should know what they will have access to (and more importantly what they wont have access to) when the Trial expires. That way they can plan their work with complete knowledge of what they wont have access to in the future. Secondly,

I feel we should allow users with personal license to atleast view the Configuration table in a read-only state. I will be bringing up both the issues with the relevant teams.

To get you unblocked, we can try to get you the table in a csv format if you can provide us your Configured Design. Would you be able to export it and send it to us? You can attach the file here, however, if it is proprietary, you can email it to me directly at: KATTETG@AUTODESK.COM

This should at least provide some time to get the viewing capability implemented.

However, I will reach out to you directly should I need that assistance.
