Inserting components menu not working?

Since this update I can now no longer access the options to insert components, fastners or components from Traceparts of McMaster-Carr as the options are greyed out on the menu.

Am I doing something wrong or is there an issue here?

Hi @davefaulder ,

Hope you are doing great. With the new update, we are bringing different design document types like Part, Assembly, and Hybrid(Legacy Fusion design document). From the screenshot that you shared, I can see that you are on the Part document. With the part document, you are not allowed to create any components. The Traceparts and McMaster-Carr create components, which is the reason why they are disabled in the part document. You can use the following two document types to use the Traceparts and McMaster-Carr.

Assembly Design Document (With Modeling Enabled)
Hybrid Design Document

You can convert the existing document type to a Hybrid (legacy) design document or an Assembly document

Please follow the recording that I made for better understanding. I hope this will resolve your doubts. If you are still having any questions. Please let me know.

Thankyou, yes this helps. I figured I would have been doing something wrong. It would appear that I'm going to have to reconsider my whole approach to how I've been doing this because I have no formal training on Fusion or CAD for that matter, I've just worked it out as I went along and I clearly don't do things the "proper" way sometimes. I've always managed as the models and drawings I produce are very basic but I maybe need to look into some formal training.
