The update today removed the classic theme. There was no need to change the interface and I prefer the classic theme as I can see it much better than the other themes. How can I switch to classic when there is no option in the pull down? Please put it back.

So here we go with another update, and Autodesk has once again ruined the UI. I really don’t understand why they keep doing this. Either they mess up the scaling, or they remove the Classic theme again (the only one out of all those experiments that actually looks professional and is easy on the eyes). This has happened multiple times now!!!

Who is supposed to look at those hair-thin fonts and the over-contrasted side menu all day?? The last time they broke this, the forum was (rightfully) flooded with angry users complaining about how uncomfortable it is to work with. I’m honestly starting to feel like they’re doing this on purpose 😞

Is it really such a big problem to just keep the Classic theme as an option??? Or at least allow users to change the UI font so everyone can choose, like most normal Windows applications do. Exactly for this reason I didn’t install the latest update on my work laptop, and I really hope the Fusion team does something about it.

Thank Sujay. I want to point out that this happened in the previous update. I posted here (Too much gray) and it was addressed by doing something to add the classic theme back. The new theme is just plain bad and the classic theme should always be available for people who like it, and for people who, like me, have a hard time seeing that the gray icons are not disabled.

Thanks for your help.

Vic

When we discussed the removal of the Classic theme in a previous update, someone from support mentioned that it would be completely removed at the beginning of the new year as part of unifying the UI across all Autodesk products.

If you are making such fundamental changes, it is important that someone in your development team with a real sense for visual UI design evaluates the result — not only from a technical perspective. The current themes look like they were created by someone without a feeling for professional UI aesthetics.

We run Fusion on FHD laptops, 3K OLED displays, and standard 3K monitors. On none of these does Fusion look good now. The Data Panel is overly high-contrast, menus on 3K displays use tiny hairline fonts, and the overall color balance is tiring for the eyes. All of this was reasonably well tuned in the Classic theme.

If Autodesk does not want to bring back the Classic theme, there is a very simple alternative: add basic UI color and font settings to Preferences — as implemented in CREO and other professional applications.

I have been paying for several Fusion licenses for about 5 years now, and the price keeps increasing (which I don’t mind — it’s good software). What I do mind is being forced into unfinished UI changes without any option of choice.

If the Classic theme has indeed been removed in the latest update, I’d like to ask how I’m supposed to deal with the broken scaling when switching to the Light Gray theme.

This is how the UI looks if, in the last version before the newest update, I switch from Classic theme to Light Gray theme. So it’s not just about colors — the main issue is clearly broken scaling in the Light Gray theme. How am I expected to use paid software for real work in this state?

The laptop has an FHD display — yes, everything is fully updated as it should be.

Or is this broken scaling already fixed in the latest Fusion update?

Thank you for your reply.

In the end, I had to update to the latest Fusion version so our team could continue working (data compatibility), and I can confirm that DPI scaling is fixed in the latest release.

However, as already mentioned by others, the fonts still do not look professional compared to the Classic theme. On a 14" FHD laptop they are unnecessarily small, which makes daily work less comfortable.

A simple solution would be to add font size controls in Preferences — and ideally also allow users to select the UI font. This would immediately resolve these issues and is a fairly standard feature for professional software.
