Just loaded Fusion and Fusion/Autodesk/Desktop Connnector and when I try to open the file in Fusion I get a versioning error. Upload file by drag and drop into Fusion and the Inventor file opens. Fusion says I have all the updates. Is it possible the connector is using a newer version of Fusion to generate/upload the file, compared to what Fusion actually is? That's the way it appears.

Create a new Folder, Upload the same Inventor file to the Desktop connector, could you please try opening again? In the meantime, I’ll coordinate with the development team and get back to you once I have more details on whether a fix for Desktop Connector is being considered.

I just attempted and opened the file in Inventor 2023 and saved to the Autodesk Fusion connector folder in windows explorer. Then went to Fusion and tried to open the ipt and it would not. Error read "Cannot open the IPT" I did the same workflow with Inventor 2026 and that worked, as the IPT would open in Fusion. 1 concern I have is any file created on an older version of Inventor will have to be migrated or do a SaveAs to the latest file format. We don't migrate inventor files unless we're doing a revision to the file as Inventor/Vault doesn't really care what version of Inventor it was created. So with 250,000+ Inventor files (not all are CAM) this does create a concern on workflow efficiency. Currently we utlize GibbsCAM which uses our Inventor files directly and have not heard of any issues w/ Inventor versions causing problems in terms of opening old Inventor files directly. I started an initiative to get Fusion into our workflows across 3 divisions for several reasons, like continuous product improvements to Fusion and also the fact that it is part of PDMC. I also see initiatives to get more Fusion/Inventor/Vault interactions more seamless. This will make a hard sell internally if a high percentage of files we open will need to be migrated in Inventor 1st.

Regards!

We are having this issue and it's stopping us from giving Inventor files to our CNC guys who use Fusion - I have updated my Fusion to the latest version (as of half an hour ago) and it's still not working.

This will affect our production - Please fix ASAP or give me any info you can on anything else I need to do/try.

Additional info - I am getting the file from Inventor to Fusion using Inventor's "Fusion" ribbon and am seeing inconsistent results.

Just tried with a test part:

I used the "Subtractive" button, and get this error:

Fusion can't open thursday1.ipt v1 which was persisted by version 2701.0.7 with your current software version 2606.1.22.

I then used the "Modelling" button to transfer the file and saved it under a different name ("Thursday2") in the same folder and it worked.

Tried again, using the "Subtractive" button again and saved it as "Thursday3" in the same folder and it works...

It makes no sense, I now have three files all spawned from the same Inventor source. Two work and one doesn't.

Please prioritise this fix ASAP as not only do we need to get files into Fusion in the first instance, we need to also update them to keep in track with Inventor revision changes and I don't want to update a file that's had a lot of CAM programming time put into it, only to find it no longer opens.

I just updated fusion this morning as well. We save STEP files in our desktop connector that we have ilogic setup to export from inventor into desktop connector every time we save(much smaller file size and faster updating, also we run into disappearing bodies inside of parts sometimes opening .iam files). We then open them in fusion to process our CAM so they update with inventor revisions, but every time we update we are getting the same error.

It has basically put a halt to our production until this can be resolved. I have also attached a LOG file as well in case that would be helpful.

I'm getting the same issue uploading files from SolidWorks. I'm uploading through the Fusion website, then opening it in Fusion. About 20% of the files won't open, and returns the error mentioned above. This problem occurred before, and after I updated Fusion today.

I wish Fusion was more reliable. It would seem I need to extend lead times to clients to account for the potential that Fusion refuses to let me work on any particular day... That's not a good way to run a business. I would prefer to be more excited about updates with new features, but in reality updates just make me worry that some features will no longer work, and my business will be dead in the water.
