Changing the distance between two points in a spline sketch

I've just finished using splines and lines to trace over a reference image, and i'm trying to shorten the height. I locked the top and bottom parts so it'd stay the same, but it pops up an error when i try to do so using the dimensions tool. Is my sketch too damaged to be able to do so? I only sketched half of the object and mirrored it before this error popped up. Thanks

Hello @williamw003

Thank you for reporting your findings. I checked the attached file, there are some fixed points in the spline which are stopping the dimension changes. I have attached the screenshot.

Once those points are marked not fixed the dimension change is possible.

I would use real dimensions that I can measure with my calipers.

I would not mirror a Spline.

yeah but i calibrated the image at the start, is there any way to fix it without defining everything since i don't even know what some of the real measurements are? What's the better approach to mirroring the sketch half i made?

1. Image is an approximation - not measurements. I did not see a canvas image in the file that you Attached.

2. I already fixed it for you in the file that I attached. What do you need to edit?

3. The better technique is demonstrated in the file that I attached - everything in the Timeline.

I did all of my dimensions from one datum (the Origin).

So if you want to change the height without changing the top and bottom you will have to dimension those relative to each other.

Do you need help doing that? (See Attached.)
