Designing a Decal

Hello,

I am new using Fusion 360 software and I have a doubt. Is it possible to design (not import) a decal directly in the part design?

I have made a design for a front panel in a metallic box and I want to use that design to create my decal. To do that I have used different texts, shapes, emboss tool and I have applied different appearances to the surfaces to apply colors (as you can see in the next picture)

The problem is that I want to export that design to a pdf file without loosing quality and, for that, I used the Drawing view. However, when I export to pdf, I am facing 2 problems:

The quality of the picture is poor, so I cannot use it to print it as commercial decal.
I am not able to remove the border lines of the output file (I have tested several options in the export window, even changing the default line width to 0mm in preferences, but nothing worked).

Do you have any solution for these problems? Maybe I need to use a different tool to create the decals. Any suggestion?

Thank you for the suggestion. But is there a way to create a PDF from render module? Or do I need to save as PNG or JPEG and add it to a PDF document?

I don't know if there is a way to export the DXF file including the color information and convert it to a PDF directly to not loose quality.

Yes, you can certainly design the decal in Fusion, but if you are getting the decals print and cut from an outside contractor, you'll almost certainly be better served by providing the file in a vector graphic from, say, Illustrator or free clone.

Yes, the idea is to send it to an outside contractor. I was doing some tests, but I don't know if I can export to vector form the color information in the design (I don't think so).

All the text and the colors should be done in an external tool? Maybe I need to export to vector form and, using a different software, add texts, colors, images...

Again, any suggestion will be welcome.

Can you share your Fusion file? I would be interested to see how well a reasonably complex design ( the Graphics I mean) can be extracted as Vectors suitable as the start point in Adobe Illustrator or, in my case, "CorelDraw!"

Creating a new sketch and projecting all the graphic elements of your proposed Decal, and then exporting that Sketch only as a .dxf, then into CorelDraw!

Thank you very much for your answer. Only one more question.

Did you create the dxf file but the colors I can see are added in the CorelDraw software, right? Or are the colors added in the Fusion 360 and you know how to add this information to the dxf file? I am asking this because when I open your dxf file in inkScape there is no color information (which is what I expected).

I asked what purpose a PDF serves.
Should something be printed as a label in color, laser cut, 3D printed, etc.?

Print label?

> Export all contours of the individual areas 1:1 to a vector graphics application (Inkscape, etc.) and fill the areas with the desired color for printing.

Yes you are correct> I created a new sketch in Fusion and projected everything I needed to have a 1:1 base of all the vectors I will need in my graphics software, in my case, CorelDraw!

There I created closed profiles that I filled with colour...I just grabbed any old colours as a demonstration. It was, I have to say, harder than I thought in to get shapes Icould fill but the process worked to get your geometry into a colour printable file. IRL, you'll need to add bleed and also create a set of non-printable cut lines

It's a shame that you cannot use the same Fusion 360 to do all the process, but I assume that it is not designed to do that functionality.
