Is there a way to change the 'Animate Joint Relationships' speed?

I have an assembly with a series of joints, all working fine. When I select 'Animate Joint Relationships' everything moves round, but I'd like to view it at a slower speed to get a better look at things. Is there a way to do this, other than create a motion study or driving the first joint manually? This would also be very helpful when I am capturing a video of the joints in motion using a screengrab tool.

Hi @crueby1 , Thank you for reaching out. Maybe the 'Motion Study' command is more in line with what you want to do. Can you give it a try?

The motion study does allow slowing it down some, but not all that much. Would be great if that had more range on the speed slider to the 'slow' end, the motion still goes through a full cycle there in just a couple seconds.

Open up your text command window and type the command Fusion.Jointanimationtime a space and the number of seconds of duration you desire. For example Fusion.Jointanimationtime 10

Make sure you are entering your command in Text, selection in on far right hand side of text dialog window.

Edit: Here is a Fusion.jointanimationtime of 10.

jhackney1972 - another question if I may, is there a way to assign that command to a shortcut, hotkey, or other menu item? I can see using it a LOT, and it resets next time I start Fusion.

I am sure it can be done using Fusion API but I am sorry to say I am on a user or programmer using the Fusion API.

I've written a plugin for this, you're welcome to the source code, attached. its not perfect but works,

a dropdown shows available joints and allows you to apply a speed via a slider.

Depending on the complexity of your assembly I can be a bit slow to respond.

Thats very slick! Do I need to compile the plugin to install it? I have not done any plugin work before, don't know the ins/outs of doing so and then installing.

No need to compile, go to Scripts and add-in in the utilities menu and add it from there.

It seems that this Add-In is meant to be used on demand and not loaded at Fusion startup. Remove this switch in the Add-In dialog box.

Yea, its on demand, ill change it so it can be run at startup, ill get around to it next week. I said it wasn't perfect, it was just to get someone out of a hole.
