Announcing the Closed Loop Bot

Common feedback we receive from customers is that they feel like bugs they report long go unaddressed. Oftentimes, a bug has been fixed, but we never communicated that back to the customer. Introducing the Closed Loop Bot!

What is this?

Closed Loop Bot is an automation that connects Jira, our issue tracking tool, to the Community. It will close the loop with forum topics when a fix is released.

Why are we introducing a bot to the forum?

Simply put, we want to be better at following up with our customers when they take the time to report bugs.

For your forum topics to be included in this bot automation, an Autodesker must review your report and associate it with the ticket in our system. This bot allows us to make sure we close the loop with every bug report we find.

Where will I see the Closed Loop Bot?

At the first launch, you’ll see the bot reply to topics in the Support and Manufacturing forums. As we integrate the tool with more forums, we’ll keep the Community up to date.

What should I expect to see if my topic is responded to by the Closed Loop Bot?

Your topic will have a reply letting you know the ticket ID of your bug report in case you want to reach out to Autodesk via a different channel, like Customer Technical Support.

Then, when the bug is fixed and released, you will receive a follow-up reply letting you know.

Great! My bug is fixed! Now what?

What if I’m still seeing an issue or my bug isn’t fixed?

Has even one bug actually been fixed? Some bugs clear and just return every time the software is fiddled with, which seems almost non stop these days. I just see a growing list of bugs. You dont fix a bull in a china shop problem by running the bull in the china shop more regularly.

@rhetths - I'm probably one of the most prolific bug-reporters in this forum - they fix basically everything; the level of attention to us users from Autodesk is next level... but it can take some time (months), so be patient: they *will* sort it for you, is my long first-hand experience to your question.

I use the program for hours each day. I know what bugs have been created and what bugs have not been fixed, and what if any bugs have been fixed. I suspect a small number of bugs resolve without the autodesk team doing anything, that is why i question whether any bugs have actually been fixed. In the past i detailed on this forum numerous bugs but the way i was treated was often not nice, and very few of the bugs were ever fixed. I realised that Autodesk has a protocol of making poor quality software changes and not checking to see if problems were created, and relying on users to point out the bugs Autodesk created. This is obviously highly unprofessional. Autodesk mostly struggled to understand the bugs i pointed out, and mostly did not regard the bugs i pointed out as an issue, and did not fix them. Thus, despite my efforts, the program has continued to be degraded over the last five years i have been using it. I could give a long list of bugs that have been created and have not been fixed, i have to work around them every day, but it is not my job to create and share that list, and even if i did, the program would continue to be degraded as has been the case in the past.

Just now, i am here because of another bug, i just tried to select a tool from my cloud library in order to create a toolpath and it says "Failed to select tool for operation". So my business suffers once again a loss of money and focus until this bug somehow clears or is fixed.
