The way colours are rendered has changed after the new Fusion 360 update

Hello everyone,

I have been a long time user of Fusion 360 for personal projects. These past couple of years I have been designing an Arcade Game in my free time.

After the recent update (the end of July or beginning of August one I believe), however, it appears that the way that Fusion 360 renders the colours of the objects in the Design window has changed.

I have attached a screenshot of the way some of the components appear in the pane on the left:

As you can see the wooden panels are supposed to have a dark-brown colour.

However, after the recent update, Fusion360 now renders the objects in the Design window with a lighter, yellower colour:

The Render window still shows the correct dark brown colour:

This colour change has happened for all of my components and assemblies.

In addition, new objects now show the different colours in their thumbnails, as shown below, with the middle component (the new one), now appearing a lighter colour in its thumbnail:

Could anyone please tell me whether this is a bug introduced with the new update, an intentional new design feature, or something that I can fix by changing the settings?

What I have done so far was reset all of my preferences. Tried toggling through the different display settings to see whether one of those were responsible. I also thought that it might be a lighting issue, but I have not been able to find any settings for adjusting the default lighting used in the Design window.

Any advice or help would be appreciated!

Kind regards,

Pieter

Hi matthewZYM62,

Thank you for your comment. Your solution from the other thread worked for me.

After some trial and error I ended up setting the exposure base value to 0.2. This struck a nice balance between getting the objects to look as close as possible to their previous colours while not resulting in my assembly's lighting being too "dark".

The colours look much better now:

Unfortunately the way the white objects are being rendered hasn't changed. They are still too bright. But that is something I can live with.

Overall I am happy with the changes. Thank you!

Best regards,

Pieter
