Ground to parent preventing Duplicate with Joints from working

I found that if a Component is "Grounded To Parent", the "Duplicate With Joints" tool does not work properly.

I have been having so many issues with "Ground To Parent". I hope these little bugs can be fixed.

Thank you for taking the time to report this. You're right — when using Duplicate with Joints, the tool attempts to duplicate the selected components along with their joints. However, in the case of components that are Grounded to Parent (GTP), the workflow becomes problematic.

Technically, when a GTP component is duplicated, the tool also duplicates its grounded state. This means the new component is immediately grounded upon creation, leaving it with zero degrees of freedom (0 DOF). As a result, when the tool tries to apply the duplicated joints afterward, the solver fails because it cannot move or reposition the grounded component to accommodate the joint constraints.

We recognise that this isn't an ideal user experience. One possible improvement will be to avoid copying the Ground to Parent status when duplicating components with joints. This would allow the duplicated component to remain flexible during joint placement and only be grounded manually if needed afterward.

Can you share the model?

I think I can demonstrate a workflow that will work.

I find the GTP is a very powerful feature (actually, it's an attribute, not a feature) in assemblies and substantially reduces the number of joints needed.

The demo might take a while as I am about to step onto an international flight 😉

I know both are relatively new tools, so I understand it will take time to capture all bugs. Something that would help at the moment would be to give a better error description.
