I have received the file in .dxf format, but the file is even larger. dxf attached

After importing into Fusion I have clicked on Cache for Offline, but it does not seem to help.

Sounds like Fusion struggles with this, so I am changing my efforts into looking for other software for this one, I only need to add my dimensions in a 2d drawing so I can send it to an architect.

I am trying to find a way to bring a 2d .dwg file into Fusion.

I have seen that there is a way by starting a sketch and then using the Project/Include, but I cannot get it to work;

When I click on Create-Project/Include-Project I get the Project dialog box apear but I cannot select the project when clicking on the project. (Secreenshot attached)

The file is attached, if anyone can advise how to get this into Fusion so I can dimension my own 2d drawing I would greatly appreciate it.

I need to work with the dwg or dxf and make changes then dimension a drawing. The architch does not manufacture the product or know what can be changed to make the product fit in their project.

The question was "how to work with the dwg file in Fusion", not "can an architect open a dxf file".

After changing software, I can now work with the drawing in the dxf file. I just thought Fusion might have a solution.

What is the aim? Fusion may not be the best software if all you need to do is annotate a drawing.

Hi,

You can import your 2d.dwg file into fusion using following steps:

Navigate to the project folder where you want to upload the DWG file.

Click the "Upload" button (upward arrow icon).

Select the DWG file from your computer and click "Open". The file will upload to the project folder.

Once the DWG file is uploaded, double-click on it to open.

Fusion 360 will automatically convert the DWG file into a usable format.

The geometry from the DWG file will appear on the canvas.

You can use the tools in the Sketch or Model workspace to edit and manipulate the imported geometry.

Use the imported 2D geometry to create sketches.

Use the "Extrude," "Revolve," or "Sweep" tools to convert sketches into 3D bodies.

Please try above steps and check whether you get your desired output or you need more assistance.

I have tried importing provided dwg file into fusion will attach its image.

Thanks,

Hi and thanks for your instructions.

However I cannot get this to work, the file uploads, but when I open it, it is not on a sketch canvas.

Fusion seem to struggle and take a long time for these tasks, despite Fusion taking up less than 20% of my PC resources and a good internet connection.

The file is not that intense, it is only basic line work for a door design.

I only needed to remove some components and redraw a 2d drawing with specific dimensions.

I ended up downloading a trial for other software to do this, but I would rather not have to change software for these tasks.

@infoN7GXS Fusion's sketch environment is not a drafting environment so you will not be able to create a dimensioned drawing in a sketch. With Fusion you have to create a 3d model then create a 2d drawing from the model in the drawings workspace so Fusion's probably not the best program if all you want is to modify 2d drawings.
