Creating Drawing dimensions

Hi, See attached.

Can anyone explain how we are supposed to dimension these two intersection points in X and Y?

I cannot add intersection points as we dont have that facility? the edges extension would appear to only work on straight lines? I cannot create sketch lines as we cannot constrain them to existing geometry?

Why are none of these features available/possible? I hate having to do any kind of drawing work in fusion!

I don't mean to upset anyone but I cannot be the only one surely?

I also don't have enough time to replicate something for you. I thought all the information was there in the image?

Attached is another example where I need to dimension to the intersection of a radius and a line that has a blend rad.

How? Why is it this difficult and frustrating to use..........

I can, but unfortunately, I won't.

All of the information needed is indeed in the image, but why should I take my time to replicate something for you if it isn't even worth your time?

Edit: I have to take a jab at Fusion though. This is much much easier in Autodesk Inventor Professional than in Fusion. So much easier seems like a bad joke.

I have already spent too much time trying to do simple tasks, I cannot spend anymore time trying to do something that should be quick and simple to do. Especially when my boss is sitting behind me.

Appreciate the understanding though. And I never asked anyone to replicate anything, I was just asking how to do it if it could be done.

Seems to me that it can't, otherwise you wouldv'e said.........

BTW - you can also save time by using the image embed glyph

or on Windows OS Shift Win S and Ctrl v to capture and paste screen imaged directly into the problem description when posting.

I've just noticed you attached a drawing of your "Solution"

Unfortunately, this is incorrect as you've either added a line between the 2 arcs to be able to use the "edge extension" or you are selecting the intersection of the 2 arcs for the intersection point I've requested. Neither are workarounds or even correct.

As I stated above, I don't think this can be done with the current drawing package in fusion. If at least we could add our own sketches that could be constrained to the part displayed it would save some time. Even though these sketches have to be added, which in itself takes time, it still is quicker than finding that you can't actually dimension something you should so easily be able to do.

I've added your drawing with the offending position marked. And yes, I did it the long way.............

Exactly what I did in Fusion.

But if you are serious about this you should be using Autodesk Inventor Professional. Due diligence.

If the sketches are constrained to the part, what happens when you move the drawing view........? You also haven't said if you used a line and extended or if you used the intersection point of the arcs. Neither of which is acceptable.

Why don't you just agree that this can't be done at the moment.........? Is it something I've said?

We can't justify the price of inventor for the very few drawings we do per year, it just doesn't make sense.

I noticed that you haven't Attached a file.

I noticed that you haven't posted an image of exactly what you want.

But you are right about the FACT that 2D drawing documentation is really lacking in Fusion.

This was trivial in Autodesk Inventor Professional as far back as I can remember.

I would even be able to change the model dimensions from the drawing if I enabled that.

I taught several students who placed Gold in Skills USA contest using Autodesk Inventor Professional and SolidWorks.

I can't imagine this would be possible using Fusion.

If this were my work and the company couldn't afford the appropriate tool for the job, I would purchase out of my own pocket (and yes, I have actually done that).

I'm just trying to help you with what you have, but you seem to be fighting me all the way.

This was your opening response to someone struggling with fusion. I apologise if I appear scratchy but after reading this as your initial entry to the discussion I cannot fathom how you would conclude it is me who is fighting? All I have done is ask questions, you have been the kid in the playground with the best toy but not willing to share.

My whole point was the fact I don't have time to find out how to do simple tasks in the drawing environment. A place where I spend very little time. Coming from solidworks, this space is extremely frustrating and time consuming. As I said, I have my boss sitting behind me wondering why he has only just renewed the subscription and I cannot even dimension an intersection.

I came on here hoping someone would just say "easy, you just do this". I wasn't expecting a barrage of negativity and someone saying "I know how to do it but i'm not gonna tell ya!!!"

Anyway, doesn't matter now, the drawing is done. I shall no longer ask for your advice and thank you for opening my eyes to the ways of the "CAD Professional etiquette"
