Guys really? a forced tool bar I can't remove unless on a paid license???? If you think this make me more inclined to purchase a license, it has the opposite affect.

Sorry to hear this bothers you!

There is no option to remove toolbar panels, for either paid or free licenses. The inclusion of configurations tools in the free license is intended to let you know of a powerful new tool on the paid side that you otherwise might not realize is available.

If the toolbar space is at a premium for you, the only advice I can give at this point is to drag one of the items in your screenshot out of the configuration area of the toolbar. There can be only 1 icon, but not zero.

I appreciate that Fusion is provided free to hobbyists. However, I'm a bit confused by this, as it bumps two constraints that I frequently use off of the toolbar to make room for what is essentially an advertisement. I second the motion that this ought to be something that can be disabled or moved to a submenu.

In the meantime, it is possible to configure toolbar panel visibility via Fusion's addon/scripting API should you wish to go that route.

There is documentation for API-based UI customization as a whole, but not this specific scenario. I will inquire if we can expose this within the UI or maybe provide some example code.

Thanks for the feedback, I've passed it to the people who design these experiences. I'm just here helping users use Fusion and reporting bugs/issues back to development.

For the effort of "using Fusion" I'm curious if you ever tried using custom hot keys or the customizable Design Shortcuts?

Changing a keyboard shortcut, adding to toolbar, and pin to shortcuts:

This is accessible by pressing the S key:

Have you tried these methods? Was there anything you didn't like about it?

Once the sales pitch has been seen and rejected (multiple times), it just becomes an annoying misuse of screen space, right? Just record the number of times you've presented the Configure menu and drop it after 3 times.

I suggest changing "Pin to Shortcuts" to "Pin to Shortcuts (s)". I never figured out until today that the two shortcuts are the same thing.

I'd like a way that shortcuts could search the model (component, body, sketch, joints, etc) names, as well as the action buttons. I do SOOO much scrolling when I'm switching back and forth between 3 components and need them all open at the same time, so just typing the first letter or two of the model part would be much faster.

Thanks for the suggestions.

For the configurations UI request, improvement logged FUS-172991

For the "S" addition to the toolbar UI, improvement logged FUS-172992

For searching a design, improvement logged FUS-172993

Have you tried using Select by Name? Just curious if you think this is close to what you want for searching. It doesn't work for anything other than body and component names.

Thank you!

I tried Search By Name and didn't really understand how it works. I've never really gotten it to select anything! I type a part of my component name ("sole" for the "solenoid" component), enable Bodies, enable Components, click the binoculars and it reports "selected items 0". So then there's this popup entry box and I type "sole" into it, tap Return, and the component is selected... why do these two interfaces select differently? Am I doing something wrong? [I read the manual].

I have two other components, "frame" and "frame walls" and when I type "frame" (into the dialog box or the popup), neither component is selected and the count is still zero, with both interfaces (dialog and popup). It seems to me that typing into either interface should dynamically pop-down a list of all the matching bodies and components (and other sub-objects, with component -> body context listed per hit because I reuse the same body names across multiple components) while I type. That is, each letter I type should filter the list more and let me multi-select them, or even use meta chars (like "b*frame" matches "box frame" and "bed frame").

Thanks for the detailed response.

What you expect is not possible in Fusion today. Detailed search of all elements of a design that produces a list that you can sort is the needed improvement, we are aware.

I'm only offering you some tools that should make it a little easier, but are not intended to do the job you describe.

Select by Name

Enter a partial string

Click binoculars

Look for results in browser

If you have a simple (small) model that doesn't work this way (as shown above), please share it, or make a video so I can see what the issue is.

You mention some other sort of search dialog, I have no idea what that is. Can you post screen shots of the popups/dialogs you are describing?
