Whether this o your issues are actually related tot eh graphics card is not clear.

I've explained this you you in your thread already. The Nvidia Qadro and AMD Fire GL are identical in hardware to gaming cards. Maybe not as overclocked.

However, the software divers for these cars are aimed a "professional" graphics programs of which many use the Open GL API. thus the Direct X performance of these cards is often fairly bad.

Fusion 360 uses the Direct X API and thus a cheaper Gaming Graphics card often fairs better than the Quadro or Fire GL cards.

Hi,

Fusion lags in all aspects:

Creating sketch - I start drawing lines and adding constraints and suddenly fusion starts misbehaving. When I click on lines and try to drag them to check if they are fully defined program freezes and half the screen goes black for about 10-15 seconds. From this point on, this keeps happening.

Creating joints - When I click on given points program hangs for couple of seconds before i can re-click at anything.

Program library lags and updates files very slowly, These problems started happening about 2-3 months ago and couple updates later it seems that they won't go away.

I'm running win7 Pro, Quadro2000M, 12Gb Ram, 256SSD, and i7-3840QM.

Thanks in advance

I have a quadro 1000m and have had lag issues continuously since I began using Fusion. I recently went into my bios and deactivated Intel Optimus from functioning as I have a dual graphics card on a Dell Precision workstation laptop, and the lag has improved considerably. Before that I'd made sure to select the Nvidia card for use in Fusion as outlined in one of the Fusion help guides but it didn't seem to do much. I'd recommend disabling the Optimus in Bios, which is there to auto-switch between video cards depending on application, and just set the computer to run the Quadro all the time if in fact you have a similar situation to me with a dual graphics card configuration. Also, I recently upgraded from 8GB ram to 16 and saw an improvement there as well.

I am not sure what to think here. If my card works with other programs but not fusion, what am I supposed to think? At minimum there could be better diagnostics if fusion is that sensitive to graphics cards.

Hi,

I started actually running into stability issues with this change in my
BIOS which actually seemed to be related to getting a blue screen of death
on my computer. I've since reactivated the Optimus in my BIOS and switched
fusion to run using my onboard Intel graphics card which uses Open GL
instead of Direct X as my Nvidia Quadro card did. This has given me the
most stable work environment yet actually and I had a project open with
this setup for 24 hours with no issues. Seems like the way to go for me at
least.

Sorry I may have given you some bad advice before, I do think that my
system improved initially but I can't be having blue screens of death.

Good Luck!

Hey

Majority of my problems disappeared after I forced my laptop to dedicated graphics. Yet one problem still occurs. Library is still extremely slow. I believe this is also the root cause in program anomalies. Similar thing happens when pdm is having bad connection using solidworks with pdm in my day job.

My internet contract is 10Mbits up and down. Owerall internet experience is okey, but fusion importing, saving, opening and closing is supper laggy. When closing fusion it takes quite some time before myhub says i don't have files open. Also can't move files inside project, pop-up window freezes..

Do I have to open some ports?

What is causing such slow behavior?

Best regards!

Mart

I didn't find button to edit my last post, so I for it. If I strain my internet with steam downloads simultaneously with fusion modeling then black screening reappears. So it's definitely connection related problem.

Best regards!

I've suspected my internet connection has been causing me issues. I actually got a new laptop which has been running better but I still need to run some diagnostics on my router to see if it's dropping out periodically, something that it used to do occasionally.

Can you post a copy of your diagnostic log files? It will be interesting to see if there are network errors in the log file.

There is a network troubleshooting guide here that may be helpful to reference.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/a360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Network-Configuration-for-Fusion-360.html

There are a lot of suggestions such as adding domain exceptions to firewall or to anti-virus software that may help. It's quite possible that anti-virus software or some other background process is interfering with the normal operation of Fusion 360.

A really good procedure to try is try booting up Windows in Safe Mode to eliminate all the background processes and then retest.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Diagnose-Interference-from-background-processes-in-Windows-using-Safe-Mode.html

If the behavior is the same while online, we may be able to rule out background interferences as the cause of the lag.

I hope that helps. If you have any quesitons, please let me know.

Thanks,

It seems to me that while that indeed may make a difference, F360 shouldn't require it, as many users don't really have the knowledge or network rights to debug those things.

#1. F360 should cache or buffer these network actions so the UI doesn't hang.

#2. F360 should have more detailed problem information if there is indeed an network issue. This could be a simplified network log or indicator.

I think it's too early to draw a conclusion about anything just yet. That's why I have a diagnostic procedure suggested. They will tell us more about the scenario. There certainly seems to be a graphics related component here since disabling graphics switching helped.

@friesendrywall If I recall correctly, you were experiencing an issue with lag when switching between design when you have x-ref's in the design? Are we discussing the same issue? Or are you reporting a new behavior?

My suggestions are intended to help further diagnose and address the issue, if the issue is a network issue. An IT and/or Network administrator may need to be consulted if working from such a secure network. There's no way around that if the user does not have access to modify these settings.

Mostly though, I suspect a background process....

Fusion 360 client utilizes all your computer's resources.. there are no streaming graphics and there isn't anything to buffer in that respect. Only designs are synced in the background after being saved to your local disk. That's why I can't understand why going offline would help. The only scenario I can think of is Fusion 360 is constantly thinking it's losing internet connection and getting prepared to switch to offline mode. The log files may reveal more information.

It's generally easier to troubleshoot an issue if there is a definite series of steps to reproduce it. If I create a large feature pattern, I can get the "black browser" box to generate while Fusion 360 crunches away on the geometry. That is the as-designed behavior when its computing.

I have requested the diagnostic log files to look for recorded errors. You can review the link below for how to manually collect them if you're interested in reviewing them.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-manually-collect-the-log-files-for-Autodesk-Fusion-360.html

I am happy to review any if you'd like to share them here.

I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

I have been busy lately therefore I haven't been able to upload log files. I'll do it when i'm back from work.

Problems seem to be same as I started this thread. I will also try switching graphics again. Couple of updates are made. Maybe this isn't a problem anymore.

All my assemblies contain x-ref's. I'm adapting fusion workflows slowly and trying to model in one design. But more powerful CAD packages have left their marks in my workflow.

Thank you in advance
