Is there workaround for Create Drawing bug introduced 2 weeks ago yet?

Screencast video demo of bug I am running into with Create Drawing from Component in link below.

As of about 2 weeks ago, the new Fusion 360 update has introduced what I think is a crippling bug.

Crippling because it crushes the ability to produce a usable, uncluttered drawing.

If anyone can reply with a workaround it would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to send individual components to a drawing one by one like I have done for many other projects.

This is a simple table and cart project that I would like to produce paper drawings for so I do not get saw dust and glue all over my computer in the shop, working with power tools.

straight off the bat the first thing I can see is you have a lot of parts selected

I just tested it myself and it works if I right click on the component in the tree.

Can you post your model

@Anonymous That is strange, do you see the same problem in other designs? Maybe try making a test file with a couple of components to see if you have the same problem.

@Anonymous It's doing what I guest it's doing. It's useing almost all the components subcomponents, subcomponents and subcomponents, in the pick I posted you can see that wiggly line under Certain subcomponents and components, it's pulling those out.

Just turning the other components off does nothing to help.

Copying each components out then pasting new into a new model it works then. what does not help it makes a large amount of work.

I think you just worked out how to break it.

I would also try what Mark suggested just incase it's you not fusion creating this problem, It looks to me like fusion is the problem senses it does what you see to me.

Thanks for posting! It certainly looks like you are experiencing some unintended behavior when attempting to create a drawing of only one component. We have logged this issue as FDWG-7739 and our development team will be working to address it for a future update to Fusion 360.

As development works to address this issue, the workaround will be to save the individual component as a new design and then create the drawing from that design. This is not the most efficient process, but it should work to allow you to create drawings of individual components while we look into this behavior.

@daniel_lyall I tried creating another Design and mimicing the Component structure from the project and then copy paste new'd only the leaf node components in. The problem persists through a copy paste new!!!! When I try to create the drawing from the pasted component, all the subcomponents from the entire root node component (in this case called Stacking Table) go into the Drawing. Thanks for the idea though. It was something I hadn't thought to try.

If there is no fix, I am literally back to pencil and paper, saving my work with a phone camera. The thing is that the whole reason I am learning Fusion in the first place is to be able to generate multiple dimensional iterations of projects.

@paul.clauss I tried this with a new design. One component at a time. It doesn't work. The Copy -> Paste New into a new Design remembers ALL of the Components from the entire previous root component. Even if all those components haven't been copied into the new design.

If I really want to produce a drawing it looks like I have to redraw each of the sketches and recreate each of the components manually one-by-one.

The thing is - there's no way to guarantee going forward that I'll be able to create Drawings.

Say I do redraw every component - probably 30+ hours later. How do I know that I don't run into the same problem?

If you break them down by the sub component 1 only none with other sub components it works, if you go in and pull out shelf assembly and past new into a new model,it's fine I just tested it.

if it's main component-subcomponent-subcomponent it's going to have all 3 this is where it's breaking if you pull the red subcomponent out it's fine.

You just have found something that needs fixed or added to fusion drawings, and it's not you it's fusion.

Hi @Anonymous

To avoid redrawing every component, you could always save out a component as a new design file and then create a drawing from that file. If you have components with sub-components you could then delete or remove the sub-components from the new file to isolate the root component. I have shown this in the screencast below - hopefully it will help! Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions or if the behavior you are experiencing differs from this example.

I also tested this example by saving the "Side Main Support:1" component as a new file out of the design you originally attached and the newly created file only contained that individual component, which allowed me to create a drawing of only the "Side Main Support:1" part. This screencast is also attached below.
