Importing Dxf scale problems

I'm trying to import a DXF file exported from Inkscape into Fusion 360. I can import the file alright but its scaled is way off. How do I get it to import in 1:1 scale? The base unit in Inkscape is set to mm and then in F360 its in mm. I changed this to in in both but that did not work. I also tried saving it as SVG in Inkscape and then did an insert SVG (the DXF was also done using 'Insert DXF' option) but in this case nothing imports at all.

Hi @bhrishikesh,

Do you have an example file you can share here? I do note - that if you do not specify units when importing DXF's in Fusion, it will default to CM. Does that seem to make sense, like it is off by a factor of 10 when you import the mm file? If so, you can probably use the Scale command to quickly get up and working, but I'd like to still address the root issue. It is strange that nothing pops up when you use Insert DXF. I have Inkscape on my machine so I should be able to test this workflow.

Yeah it does seem to be off by a factor of 10. How do I do the scaling? I've attached the file here.

Hi @bhrishikesh,

Created a screencast below for you! When you insert the DXF, you may just need to wait a couple of seconds for the DXF to show up. Then, you can select the units (else it defaults to CM). If you want to scale the sketch further, you can edit the Sketch and then select Scale Sketch from the Sketch menu.

Just had the same problem with a couple of DXF files. Scale was out by a factor of 10. 1mm = 10mm.

Tried adding the files into my library as normal and opening the DXF from there. This always made the drawings 10 times larger.

I found out after much research that this is not the correct way to bring DXF files into Fusion. Even though this seems the most logical workflow.

You need to use the INSERT button in the tool bar, when importing there will be a dialogue box that will ask you which unit (mm, cm, m) you want to use.

For some reason Fusion will use centimetre as the default. I don't understand why this is? I would assume that 99.999% of metric manufacturing workshops use millimetres. Why doesn't Fusion default to mm or whatever the default is in the user setting for Fusion or if the DXF has a scale set?

I would almost consider this a bug/issue. Just my 2c.

ok now if I upload a dxf it wont be scale correctly cause I am also having that same problem but I do also use the insert dxf it dose the same not scale right and it dose show it in inches but the size is still off
