Is there a better way to sketch out a 13x16 grid of squares?

So I have a simple skitch consisting of a rectangular pattern with 2 borders.

The pattern is 13x16 of .750" squares with a .125" border going around the entire pattern, followed by a .375" border around that. No other bodies, components, or wizardry. Just a simple 13x16 pattern of squares.

Fusion can't handle this. If I try to dimension or touch anything in this skitch, my laptop locks up and it takes 3-5 minutes before I am able to use anything again.

Laptop specs:

Windows 10

i7 6500

g-force 930m

8gb ram

No anti virus running

No other programs running

Fresh restart

Any help or ideas would be appreciated. I have another 8gb of memory on order, but I hardly feel this should be necessary?

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

It is usually better to pattern Features rather than pattern Sketch entities.

Do you have an image of something similar to what you are trying to model.

I would most likely do one square.

Extrude

Pattern the feature

or

Split the feature.

I am just modeling a vacuum table plate, nothing complex. I modeled it how you asked by using features instead of sketches and the system handled it much better.

Can you tell me why features are so much easier for the computer to process, or why patterning features is preferred over sketches?

Thanks for your help.

A simple sketch for a feature only has a handful of Sketch Constraints to solve.

If you pattern the sketch - you end up with perhaps hundreds or thousands of individual sketch constraints to solve.
