Cannot set "equal" constraint to the two lines. The top line's length is not fixed, don't know why it is not allowed...

This seems to be a bug to me, and I will report the issue to the development team. I apologize for the inconvenience.

In the meantime, as a workaround could you try adding a dimension to the upper vertical line, then deleting it and adding the equal constraints? If this causes other problems, please let me know.

I have the same problem.

I draw two circles with different radius. If I try to apply the "equal" constraint to the circles, the following message appears : "Failed to solve. Please try revising dimensions or constraints".

What am I doing wrong ?

You can't have dimensions on both circles and then try and make them equal, the dimension on one of the circles has to be deleted.

Thank you for posting this. Apparently they changed how the Equal constraint works at some point (when it comes to circles). I never used to have to delete the dimension before applying Equal, but now apparently that's a required step.

Don’t think there were any changes,

Equals - works before dimensions, and when one article has a dimension.

Are you getting mixed up with Edit dimension, you can tag another dimension for the two dimensions to become equal. (FX is prefixed in this case)

Sorry, let me clarify what I meant. At some point in the past, I was able to add two circles to a sketch (say circles A and B), and then apply the Equal constraint to the 2, so that B's diameter would be equal to A's. If I do that now, I get the error "Failed to solve. Please try revising dimensions or constraints." It works fine if I first delete B's dimension before applying the Equal.

I have done this tutorial (link below) some time ago, and never had any issues with it; I was able to perform the steps as written, with no errors reported by the app. But now when I reach step 2 on this page, I'm unable to apply the Equal constraint to the circles as it describes. I get an error "Failed to solve. Please try revising dimensions or constraints." Googling that is what brought me to this thread.

OK but you started out with two circles, one had a dimension on it and one didn't. This is exactly what I'm saying. If both circles have a dimension, it won't let you apply the Equal

The point I was making, when you said "works for me" is that in the past, I was able to add circles to a sketch, and apply Equal constraint to the circles. I never had to first delete the dimensions from the circles first. All I was saying was, something must have changed, because I never had to do that before and now I do. Just making an observation.

This would mean that placing an equal constraint removes an existing constraint, in this case the dimensioning.
This has never been the case and will not be the case in the future.

Are you saying that you must delete even the first dimension, it been a little ambiguous,

If there is two dimensions, you can not change their value with the equals Constraint, but you can edit one - reference the other - Selecting / tagging it to make both the same.

No I'm not saying you must delete the dimension from the first circle. I'm saying you must delete the dimension from all the other ones, even though the tutorial doesn't tell you to do that. After you add the circles as instructed, you have to go back and delete the dimension from the other circles (other than the 50mm one) before you can add the Equal constraint.

Therefore, no, the tutorial is NOT clear with the instructions.

If that's the case, they need to add a step to their tutorial, explicitly stating that you must delete the dimensions of those circles (other than the 50mm one) before adding the Equal constraint. I was trying to follow the tutorial and it didn't work, because of that.

Hi,

You are talking about multiple dimensions that need to be removed in the linked example.
I see only one dimensioned circle, which is then used for the assignment of the equal constraints.
