Yeah I tried transferring from personal to my hub using the transfer wizard, accidentally sent to the hub my friend and I made together years ago, and made a right royal mess of everything. I requested the upgraded permission to be able to have full control of the folders even though I am an admin on both hubs, and even having his credentials as well. Holy cow I spent the last 5 days ripping my hair out over this, as one of the main problems was when my friend first set up the team hub he crates a "Jeffs Projects" project, so -HE- is the owner, but all the folders inside are all ones I created so about 1/3rd of my files work, and the other 2/3rds are there, but I get error messages trying to access them (again, even though he and I both have full admin rights on both hubs).

If anyone at autodesk sees this please please please approve my request to have control to enable project transfer from both project and folder level permission. email is jtamulis@gmail.com

Conversely, for the future, anyone who reads this and goes "OMG that's the issue I was having, check out these resources:

https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-transfer-folder-level-projects-in-Fusion.html

https://airtable.com/appZSKM5iFhCZ8llq/pag2UGgSqfdMenpVr/form

Good luck.

When I start Fusion, I'm seeing a message displayed in the left window saying "Upgrade Project Type - Upgrade to a project type that has more granular permissions". I've read through what the Help says if I click on the 'Learn More' option there, but dont really understand what its talking about.

I am a single (paid) user, with the Teams style update done a while back, not sharing/interacting with any other users. So, should I keep the project type I have, or do the upgrade like it says? It never really says what the advantage/disadvantage of this change is, so I dont know if should do it. Whats it really all about? Does it really change anything for a single seat user like me??

I'd really like to know this too, I upgraded one small project just to make the prompt go away and it froze everything up for 5 minutes.

Does anyone know if there is a way of stopping the prompt appearing other than upgrading? I have a lot of projects with a lot of subfolders, don't really want to spend a day "upgrading".

If you never share any projects, then probably not.

Previously you could only share on a project level. A top level "folder' in the data panel is a project.

These new changes will allow you to limit access to (sub) folder level.

Thanks for that!

BUT: how do I get rid of the popup in the left window? If I X out of it to make it go away, shut down Fusion, and restart it, the popup is there again! I don't see any option in the preferences or anywhere.

This prompt is becoming a real nuisance. It sometimes appears when I am working in the sketch environment and causes the sketch to freeze. The only way out is to close Fusion an rely on the automatically saved retore file. As a single user (team), I don't beleive that I need this extra functionality.

Thanks for all of the feedback. We have removed the help message and replaced it with an upgrade button in the Data Panel.

As a side note, we have also disabled the ability to upgrade. We have discovered an issue that we are working on and will re-enable soon.

I am receiving this message to upgrade now too, but my use case and question is a bit different. Our team uses a legacy project that is currently "Open". This means that all new folders added to the project are defaulted to be open for our users to view and edit, which is what we want.

I am a Fusion Admin for our team and I am getting the notification to upgrade our project to the new "folder type". I did notice that I wasn't able to edit a folder in one of our legacy projects recently, so I have a feeling that upgrading might bring my permissions up to date with how "Admin" permissions are intended (i.e. universal edit access). But, I'm also trying to understand what else will be different if I chose to upgrade the project? I understand that permissions can be different for the folders underneath. Is there any other benefit? Like moving files, locking permissions at the project level, turning on share links, etc.?

What are the potential pitfalls if for example an "editor" creates a new folder in the new style project? Will they have to specify the permissions to all users upon creating that? Will Admins have to change this later when its discovered that it wasn't shared properly (assuming Admins can even do this)? Can I ensure that our team's preference that
"all team members have edit and view access to everything" is the default for all folders in that project and that this is locked in place (i.e. no one can go in and delete user's access to the projects)? If there are no additional benefits beyond the ability to set different permissions of the folders in the projects, does it even make sense for us to upgrade? What we don't want to happen is that an editor creates a folder that an Admin or other editor can't access because the user forgot to set the permissions correctly when creating a new folder.

thank you to whoever may be able to help!

What will I gain by upgrading the project to the new Project style type?
