I have Windows 10. Since a recent "Patch Tuesday" (maybe) I've had issues.

When I attempt to UPLOAD a file (like a DXF file) from my local drive

something is launching BROADCAST DVR SERVER

For those of you who don't know this beast ... it is a known terror. It loves to take memory. And the machine slows to a crawl.

You can go into Task Manager and kill the BROADCAST DVR SERVER

but the file you are trying to upload is incomplete.

and sometimes you can open it (even though incomplete) and sometimes not.

when you get out of Fusion360 and start it again...

Yep...

Broadcast DVR comes back to life.

file often complete quickly and you can kill BROADCAST DVR SERVER

And yes I've followed the breadcrumbs of others to modify registry and gone into powershell to get rid of files that might harbor the beast.

The good news is on my machine I can repeat the process and I've notified Microsoft and invited them to help.

The bad news is something in Fusion360 kicks this off and I don't have a lot of faith in AD helping and Microsoft seems to know there are issues with other bits launching their monster and so far haven't been much help.

BUT if you have a slow machine that is running Windows 10 and you go into Task Manager and see if you've got the plague. Id so don't just hope AD fixes mine but join the chorus... they seem to care when LOTS of us have the same issues.

The real shame is some users might not know how to find out why their machine is slow and just sit there... and sit there... and sit there

Hi @Anonymous,

Thanks for bringing this up. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you - personally have not heard of this application so had to do some research. I do have some quick questions regarding this, and please bear with me as I'm still trying to research this beast. Was this software installed on purpose or is the result of another program? For instance, I did some research and found that this can come with XBOX games on Microsoft. Can you turn this feature off within this app (more information that I found here). Once off does this issue with Fusion still occur. I do agree - it is odd that it is getting invoked when Fusion uploads files. I can try to look more into this - I am curious if this workaround disables it however.

Thanks,

On my Windows 10 I use multiple apps. Someone suggested using the Xbox (program that is part of Windows 10)to capture a "video" of what I was doing on my desktop.

So it was installed , tried, and uninstalled.

But after a Windows update... it came back to life. As to why MS is looking into that.

Just FYI the program is used for other reasons so it might be on other user computers.

(It seems to have its own memory issues)

So after yesterday and fighting it into submission again and another MS update. (I get anxious each Tuesday) It is not there this AM because i did a test.

BUT...

That test was a SMALL DXF file (2 K) created in Inventor.

It starts great but then seems to freeze just before completion.

I've done a screen capture of processes and the like I attached and uploaded.

The 2K file takes almost 5 minutes sometimes to complete.

My REAL concern is I work in an environment with multiple machines, multiple users, and multiple apps. I work with users who wouldn't even know how to get into task manager or what to look at. Why Fusion 360 on a file upload kicks off a dormant "windows 10 Broadcast DVR Server" is a good question. I at least know how to kill the process that is slowing the machine down to less than a crawl. BUT if I really "needed the Xbox" on my machine... I should have to worry about Fusion or any other app starting it up without my knowledge and consent.

BTW, MS is still trying to figure out why the Broadcast DVR Server eats resources.

Hope this helps...

BTW, the screen captures are with Fusion 360 running and no active design sketch... just an upload.

Fusion and other parts seem to be "hogs" for this simple task.
