Move (body) > Point to Point

open Move, make sure you select body

select centre point of the cone's flat face, then the centre point of cylinder face. align work the same way.

This seems like such a simple operation I must just be missing something obvious here.

How in the world do I line up two objects together along a common center axis ?

I have a nose cone and a shoulder (cylinder) I need to line them up so I can make them one object. for the LIFE of me I can not figure out how to make the software do this. I just need a simple center align.

I took a 3" sphere. I cut the bottom half off.

I then made a 2.93" cylinder and extruded it below the plane.

I now need to center the two objects precisely along their Z center axis so I can join them and make a nose cone. (for a Rocket)

how in the world do I do this?

OR how do I move their center points to a common point? for example I can see the "center" mark on the plane. how do I move both to be centered on that mark.

oh thank god it was that easy 🙂 hehe

took me a few tries then realized I had to change to "bodies" first.

to help anyone else.

right click one of the bodies. select move copy.

window pops up. FIRST change from faces to bodies. options change.

select point to point then use the 3d cube to make the first face visible little white dot is center when you get close enough to select it turns blue click

cube again to rotate view

same thing to second body. poof they center.

very nice.

thank you very much!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGBDqOmTaDI

Video in case someone else needs this solution.

do you have a suggestion for a good super beginner toot for fusion 360? the basic "common" asked questions.

joining bodies. manipulating your view point. merging cutting multiple object. etc.. ?

One late reply 🙂
You can move without cube, you just press shift key while dragging with your mouse, that way you rotate view. On Mac I just go on touchpad with double finger and I can move view and zoom out, in etc. Not sure how to do it with regular mouse 🙂
