Hi @MarcGreve,

I am sorry to hear about what happened. Have you checked the Recover Documents option in the File menu? If the file is not there, I assume autosave did not work.

This has happened to me as well and I totally understand how you feel, and hopefully we can improve the feature in the future. This forum thread contains information on how the current Autosave works and how to force autosave so please take a look.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Simple story.

"Automatic Recovery Save Time Interval" set to 5 minutes.
In the middle of working on my design.
I made a sketch and did a Sweep. Then hit CMD+Z because it looked weird. Fusion becomes unresponsive but never actually quits.
I use Activity Monitor to Force Quit it (I¨m on a macbook).
I open Fusion 360 again.

Nothing is saved.
I had been working for about 1.5 hours.
What I got was the last time I had manually saved.

Now I have to go over all dimensions and parameters again and make sure things are properly dimensioned.

What gives?

I soldiered on and did the work again.

The design was not in the "Recover Documents". There was another design there I hadn't worked on for about 3 months though. In fact that is still there now.

The forum thread doesn't really make sense to me. Recovery saves don't occur if I'm "actively working on my design". So does the timer reset every time I, say, extrude something? So if there is never more than 5 minutes between things I do a recovery save is NEVER made? I don't understand how this is harder than having Fusion save every 5 minutes.

My Preferences says that Fusion makes a recovery save every 5 minutes. This is simply not true. Rename the feature, or put a disclaimer there or something. Anything to let me know that it doesn't work the way I, and many others, no doubt, think that it does.

Hi @MarcGreve,

Thank you for your response! I did a quick test and confirmed that timer does not reset each time you perform a command. For example, if first autosave starts at 10:00 am, second autosave starts at 10:05 am even if you have performed some commands before that. However, it fails if a command is being performed when autosave starts.

Also, thank you for the feedback! I'll definitely pass that on the development. At the same time, I recommend that you submit your idea to the Fusion IdeaStation forum, which is constantly monitored by developers and product managers, and is currently the most effective way to request a product enhancement:

Autodesk Fusion 360 IdeaStation

Other forum users will have the opportunity to Vote or add Kudos to the Idea. Votes on an idea will increase the likelihood that an idea will be implemented.

Hi,

I have the same problem. Fusion crash, there's no recovery file and the regular file have't save since I updated last version. I don't understand the purpose of an autosave that doesn't save while we are working.

Is there a way to save our work without creating a new version ? I don't care too much saving manually, but I don't want a new version every time since there is no important change, juste regular work.

Is there an update about all this problem of loosing work ?

Thank you

Christophe
