That is indeed unusual. You will not get a position capture feature in the timeline until you accept that in the tool bar,

however, what should be happening is that you get 2 more icons in the timeline as soon as you move a component by any means. One is to accept the change of position and one is to revert it.

However, I don't see that in your "after" menu bar.

There is no option to disable drag of a component (small terminology difference). You can ground a component by selecting it in the browser, right clicking, and choosing "Ground" from the menu.

That Seems odd, There's almost no utility to the click and drag function in a CAD program. Especially when there's already a move function that measures itself and stores it's action in your timeline. That click and drag has ruined a couple of my assemblies before when I've all of a sudden noticed that 1 body is 3 mil into another body and then there's no record of when I did it and I continued building in that component accidentally.

Autodesk, can you just have a setting to turn it on and off?

Hey Peter,

Thanks for getting back to me. If I accidentally click and drag (which has happened panning around before) and keep working in that component, all of the bodies that were nudged have no record of their shuffle. I've attached a before and after example. If there was just a way to turn of click and drag since it is in accurate and there is already a move function. It would help me prevent this from happening.

Why would anyone would want to click and drag a component/body on a cad software is unknonw to me. The amount of times I moved something by mistake withouth noticing, while panning or simply because fusion is thinking.. its crazy.. I've had hours of work down the drain because of this. Whats the reasoning for it? There's the move functionality.. why would anyone click and drag parts freehand? I think an option to turn it on and off would be ideal.

Dear Fusion Team:

PLEASE add an option to disable component drag, or any kind of drag. So frustrating to accidentally drag something, not notice, do a bunch of work, which maybe involve a prompt to Capture Position, and then essentially commit to a mistake without knowing, until its too late and have to chase it down and undo a bunch of work. It kind of hollows out the soul.

I just threw together this add-in for blocking component drag, because someone asked for it.

Barely tested. 🙂

https://github.com/thomasa88/NoComponentDrag

Maybe disable should be the default or it should remember the setting 🤔

Awesome!

I've downloaded this and I'm trying to get it to work with no success.
I've got it in my API/addins folder
It comes up in the 'Scripts and Add-Ins' dialog box in Fusion, but it just won't run.

Thoughts?

What is the visual result of this in Fusion? Will I get a little check box in my select drop down?
