Insert Derive component prevents movement along assembled joints in model

After selecting "insert derive" and selecting a body to import, I am able to move the imported body to the location (point to point) and then create a joint between the faces of the derived component body and the target model I'm working on. However, after creating a joint between the derived component and my larger model body, the derived component behaves as though it is grounded and prevents the model body its attached to from moving along its motion joint rails. Breaking the link in the derive component solves the issue, but that is not what I want to do. Is there something I'm doing wrong or is this a bug?

I just tested what I think you are describing and see no issues. Could you attach your models and define which one is the derived and the main assembly so the Forum users can test?

If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section, of a forum post, to attach it.
